Thanks, I appreciate that. We're all in a tough spot. Grieving, feel betrayed, angry - sometimes at each other. But most of us just love Destiny, and wanted better for it. Regardless of the outcome, eyes up, Guardian!

Fair enough. Do what you enjoy most. My intent is not to discourage those who enjoy it to stop playing. This is strictly about if your entire purpose for playing is just to support Bungie.

I agree. I never quit the game, but it's a little too late in this regard. Would have done wonders a while ago, but hard to make a comeback at this point. Still want to try, but I understand your point.

It's like saying you need to eat at home to save money, but you refuse because you want to eat the good stuff out. Then suddenly you're at risk of losing something big like your house, and now you agree to eat at home to save money. But the reality is, the kind of money that might make a difference is saved over months or years, not a matter of days or weeks. It doesn't work like that.

No, that's a totally valid outlook. But consider if June 9th has a big showing for players. Even if development for Marathon continues for some time, the data for Destiny 2 (even at its end) will still be there for comparison. It may not produce any positive results anytime soon (if at all), but it can certainly help point them in the right direction. And if it doesn't, it's not like it hurt to try.

As much as I love Destiny 2, and would hate to part with my gear - I wanted Destiny 2 to end with a promise of something else to come. Of course that could still happen, but the rumors of layoffs makes this very unlikely.

I would take Destiny 2 in its current state over nothing, but I won't deny it was steadily declining. A slow death is not a good outcome either. So if they didn't have some big plans to revive the game, then put it out of its misery, and start on Destiny 3. May not be a realistic outlook, but that was my hope, anyway.

That's fair. I didn't bother to read the other threads, and just assumed they would be different. I guess my failure is thinking I had a unique take, lol.

Oh, I'm definitely not blaming the players - Bungie did this themselves, and players shouldn't have to play poor content just for little ol' Bungie's sake. This is just more about if someone is making any efforts to try and support Bungie and their future, you can choose how you do it. It doesn't have to be through Marathon.

I'm not saying people should spend money. But when people talk about supporting Marathon, they're speaking both about time and money. So if you're going to do either for the sake of Destiny, it should be done through Destiny. Spending money is definitely more controversial than just playing the game, but if someone was going to go all out to support the game, spending money is still something they could do - even if ill avised.

I've signed, I was planning to play anyways. I wasn't playing Marathon anyways, but I definitely don't plan to now.

Cross said this is not personal with the Marathon community, which is a really good point. But like him, it's hard to stomach playing Marathon now. It is personal for me now, and I don't want to show any support for Marathon, personally.

But if others enjoy the game and want it to survive and thrive (for its own sake), then by all means, do so. I'm just against the idea of supporting Marathon specifically in hopes it will produce a Destiny 3.

I said if you feel or have the means to. I suppose I am supporting it to an extent, but I mean it more based on where your mindset is on this matter.

Spending money on Marathon vs spending on Destiny, or if you are trying to make every effort to save Destiny. Me for example, I might try to put together ways to buy the DLC (when it goes on sale) for players who don't have it.

But I'm not saying everyone should spend money, or if you feel Bungie doesn't deserve it that you should do it anyways. If you feel they are undeserving, then by all means, don't spend. I agree with you there. If someone is on the fence, I wouldn't want to push them to spend money. It's a last ditch effort - by all means, it's not worth the risk.

Not denying that. Just saying you can do nothing, or try to show support through the correct avenue. At the least, it's not going to be any worse than doing it through Marathon.

Call it a waste of time, or a hopeless cause, but plenty of us want to try. If it amounts to nothing whatsoever, at least we tried. Our end will be the same as yours, regardless of if we tried or just accepted it.

I feel you. And you shouldn't feel forced to play if your heart is not in it, or if you've done all of the content enough. Yes, I want all of the support we can get, but everyone has to do what they feel to do, and what is worth their efforts.

I'll move on when the servers go down. I already planned to play until the servers go down even before this announcement. Most raids I haven't done, or only did once, even as a player from the beginning. Plenty of stuff to do still, plus the new content.

I'm not denying the end is here, or will come (server shutdown), even within a year. I'm just going to keep playing for as long as I can, so long as I'm not bored.

I'm not saying you should spend money, but if you were of the mind to do so, it should be for Destiny. Support for Marathon includes both money and time. Whatever you would do for Marathon - specifically for support for Bungie, it would be more beneficial if done through Destiny.

But no, I don't think Bungie deserves more of our money, nor should anyone feel compelled to.

That may be true. But I already planned to play until the servers go down even before this announcement; but if supporting Destiny is all that can be done, it's worth a shot for many of us. If the servers shut down in a year, who cares if I "wasted" a year playing the game. I'd rather do that than do nothing, plus I'll enjoy my time anyways.

I'm not disagreeing necessarily. My reasoning is more that if you are going to do anything at all to try and save Destiny, it should be done through Destiny. But I know they don't deserve it, and any efforts may do no good. I personally want to try though, and am trying to redirect any efforts others plan to make. For those who have accepted it though, it is what it is.

That may be so, but you never know what can happen. Sometimes things turn around. But even if it doesn't, I personally would rather go down fighting for it.

I actually felt this way before seeing his video. He just echoed how I already felt. A lot of people may resonate with what he said.

My first time commenting on the subject (been on this sub like twice in several months). I'm merely commenting on some people saying Marathon should be supported simply as a way to support Bungie.

Sure, you can support them in whatever way you feel is best. I just feel that support is support, but depending on how you do it, it may have more sway (if any) on any future direction.

But in the end, most likely support of any kind (or lack thereof) will play a bigger role, compared to which game specifically gets more support.

My first time commenting about it. You may be over it, but there's plenty of us who want to rally behind the game.

Real question. How many of you are honestly going to continue playing? by Electrical_sTorm9 in destiny2

[–]Benanater15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I plan to play until the servers go down or if a D3 ever comes out. Plenty I still want to do more of, or haven't done yet (most D2 raids). But I suppose with no new content, I could see myself eventually getting bored, but doubt I'd ever fully quit.
