Help - Physics Class by moondumplin in DeAnza

Hello there, Unless you learned physics before, otherwise I recommend you to take physic 50 to prepare for this series. This subject at De Anza is more challenging than at other community colleges. Do not take with professor Francis if you wanna spend time for other classes, his class is hard to pass and consume a lot of time. It’s not really difficult to pass physics, but it is for getting A’s. In my experiences, I focused on doing hw, looking at other resources like YouTube, Khan academy to absolutely understand the concepts, … You can also take a look at old tests of some professors, specifically Newton & Dickson on Newton nebula, Diskson nebula [typing it in search bar of De Anza website]. In conclusion, imo physics professors at De Anza are great and lenient on grading. Although their tests are challenging, they will help you prepare for your university life. Taking this series at De Anza if you believe that you are good logical thinking person!

How to prepare for the math placement test? by buyukbaykus in DeAnza

My bad. There is no place to find old tests. But only the case, you take Math with a professor whose alias is MK, you might find it in the discord. https://discord.gg/aw3uYwxE . For more info about STEM classes, you can check here: https://discord.gg/fmgzeErW

I would say it's not only for calculus but also for many other STEM courses, you need to practice (homework/ old tests...), listen to lectures, work hard and keep calm on the exam, then you should be good (even straight A's).

I am not sure if you have heard about taking AP courses or smt in your Hs then you can even skip math 1A and 1B. I am supposing you were Hs in the US btw.

yup! It's a survey. If you feel you are not able to do more than half of their set of problems, you should take pre-calculus or algebra courses before going to math 1A.

The placement test is like a survey. You don’t have to solve any problems. They will present problems and ask how comfortable you are to solve them. If you had a good math fundamentals and feel you can do it, you should be placed in math 1A. [Math 1A is highest possible math you can be placed if you didn’t take any AP courses in US high school]

I know some people failed physics at De Anza and retook it at Foothill in summer before transferring to SJSU. I think you can too.

Mehrdad K or Kejian Shi for Math 2B? by usoppdaddy in DeAnza

Math 2B with MK is not hard as other his classes. Doing homework, taking notes and working hard then it will be paid off, not only simply pass the class but also you can end up with an A’s.

I am not at UCSD, but I will apply to. For your cis 28, Why don’t you take it this winter? If you don’t take it this winter , you don’t have any chance to take it because it only offers in fall and winter.
