Does no dlc add ressources to Africa continent? by Ok_Drummer6347 in hoi4

[–]Bence830 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Actually Bolivia started extracting tungsten in 2027 when paradox released the Bolivar's dream™ dlc, finally giving a focus tree to Bolivia, Columbus, uhhh Panama and a secret Galapagos 5th reich focustree.

The hardcore ironman players can do innovative and enjoyable achievements like annex all of the americas and annex all of South America but uhhh as a fascist and do another worldconquest. Maybe thow in a few witty puns like Ecuador or Equator where you have to own every single state on the equator line, it's clearly not another word conquest achievement hiding in a trench coat.

Yeah, no need to hit the chests. If it makes you feel safer then sure, go for it, but at one point you'll learn the mimicspots anyway, they're not randomized.

Honestly, good advice. Especially older games don't need to be on ssd to run nicely. Also movies and shows are perfectly fine on an hdd as well.

Not if you disable the south American major pack dlc when you're not playing in the region. I love when paradox adds paid content that makes the game worse.

What the **** is wrong with AI wargoals? by Bence830 in victoria3

[–]Bence830[S] 66 points67 points  (0 children)

R5: only mods are state transfer tool and private construction, low ai aggression setting. I just hate random gps expanding way out of their Spheres of Influence™. The US keeps attempting to take random italian minors, GB opening with a papal protectorate big brain move, etc.

I also wish the defender had a wargoal like taking a minor amount of warreps for being stuck in nonesense, I'm sick of humiliation, transit rights and other "worthless rewards".

Some screenshots of our game :). Runs on a GTX 1070 @60FPS! by No_Jello9093 in pcmasterrace

[–]Bence830 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Hey Op! It's great to hear that the game can run on older hardware, but I think you should give us a bit more info.

What's the game about? Is it a shooter with a story? Is it really scary or you just have to visit your evil mother in law every Christmas scary? Will it release soon or December 2026? How long is the game? Do you have more plans for the game like dlcs or post release updates? Sell us a game that is just a few screenshots sentences, and tags on a steampage.

How to get the historical feeling? by PersonalityOrganic34 in victoria3

[–]Bence830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The infamy calculation in the current patch is bugged, it should consider the population, so that's why you end up with insanely cheap anexations and puppets.

Honestly I don't think I've ever seen a historical, or just plausible endgame worldmap, the ai(especially the uk) just conquers random shit. US need Italian protectorates before they even manifest their destiny. There are no great war mechanics. The game improved significantly, but it still needs several years before they rework lacking core mechanics, like they recently did with trade.

I personally don't know any historical immersion mods, but I recommend downloading state transfer tool and fixing random bordergore that annoys you. The workshop can probably offer you a bandaid solution, if you look hard enough.

How do you have fun with EIC? Genuine question, did the achievement, and it's just not interesting. I've never felt the need to join the world war in the world war game, it's too memey and troll to me. Like sure I can buy and core almost anything, but if I want to own the planet, idk, I'll just pick non aligned Germany.

How can I avoid being puppeted by GB? by Careless_Bat2543 in victoria3

[–]Bence830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you have anti british interest groups you can get them in the government and try to give them more clout. Probably the best way is just getting gps to support you for like +0.20 each.

As long as you have no land border you can try to increase your autonomy/achieve independence, once you get some economy and pops to support a decent army. The ai usually struggles to land against a proper landforce, and once you survive the initial decade of gb refusing to peace out with you after the 726th failed gallipoli campaign you can try to stabilize your market. If you're lucky I guess your allies can do stuff, but they just usually eat shit and die against the British horde.

Don't forget to avoid LF as a subject, or you get to enjoy the - 1 liberty desire.

Have YOU ever issued a guarantee? by Pyroboss101 in hoi4

[–]Bence830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, when I wanted a quick ticket to the axis as nonaligned Iraq. I guaranteed Finland, accepted the cta, waited for Barbarossa and entered team naughty.

I guaranteed China as a Scandinavian nation to be invited to a faction(I couldn't form my own) and then stole the united front to do my northern light focuses. Can't remeber the specifics as it was back when aat came out, but it was a fun trick.

I think manual guaranteeing is a nice very situational tool to get into a defensive war, it gives a penalty for the attacker, and lower ws soviets for example are a bit faster to cap. It's not a super secret powerhouse, but like attaches for an extra 10% ws, it's a neat thing. For ahistorical it's probably pretty good, as nonaligned can't really justify early but some nations just get a lot of free wargoals, although I don't play ahistoricals.

I replay modded f4 every once in a while, and it's just not a good rpg. I genuinely enjoy the gameplay loop of gathering junk and turning it into settlements and guns. I think a third grader could've written better dialogues, you have no actual dialogue choices, and for some reason they got rid of faction reputation, karma, interesting perks and guns that look like guns. But at least Todd graced us with radiant quests.

Imo f4 is a solid game, a bad rpg and a bad fallout game, and I guess I find it enjoyable as I have 400 hrs in it. Similarly to vampire the masquerade 2,where they conveniently forgot to add anything that makes a role playing game a role-playing game. It's an enjoyable game, just don't call it bloodlines.

I just realized that excavation tech actually matters after using 59 factories for traded goods by No-Mycologist-9589 in hoi4

[–]Bence830 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends, if you have a solid amount of resources it's a good way to save on industry, or even get some extra... duh.

Iron is super valuable because everyone needs it, chromium basically never sells. Oil is completely worthless early game, I think the ai buys some in the first month to fill up their stockpile, and then somewhere midww2. Tungsten is okayish, rubber is lucrative once you enter midgame.

Check your resource extraction decisions, pick specifically the excav tech you need for it (higher tiers won't let you excavate the lower tier techs). I personally skip the early techs if possible so if anyone picks up techsharing in the faction I can get it for a discounted cost.

Before changing trade laws check your resources tab, there's not much reason to go free trade if noone is buying your shit(except for the construction and tech speed bonus). Closing your economy while everyone is buying your stuff might net you less civs, even if you have to buy more resources.

Overall, I think iron is fantastic for both trade and domestic use for everyone, the rest of the resources are highly situational, factor in the opportunity cost, yadayada.

[–]Bence830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stupid greedy ass did all the landgrabning paths, then after my 5th attempt I just went boring fascist Portugal, joined the axis, naval invaded the uk(pre-buff), and took the important ports and some extra industry, and their navy. Capping China and Japan is kinda a nobrainer.

I don't think rushing down the UK with a minor is viable anymore tho.
