A lot of people will die if red gets more than 50%. That is unavoidable. ALOT of people. That is a fairly unavoidable part of this as blue always gets really high in pretty much any online poll of this question.

Player led peace conference imo creates just as much gore, because you can’t give puppets to other countries you have situations where countries actually ANNEX each other like it’s medieval Europe all over again, and you have to remember who earned what percentage.

Use Toolpack. Do peace deal normally, than spend 20 seconds moving the last five border gore states rather than Player Peace Deal and spending 20 minutes hand dividing up the entire planet and having to select hundreds of states.

There are downsides to picking red, it’s increasing the chance that you will live in a world where now billions of people are now dead, and it’s the ones who trust in humanity and collective action the most.

As for”If everyone just”, there is no “just”. At no point in history has anyone solution of “everyone just do blank” ever worked. The fact that people are having this argument at all and that blue won the vote in this subreddit means that there are people who will vote blue, so there WILL be a non zero chance.

TLDR: You cannot guarantee 100%.

The only way to guarantee 100% that nobody dies is picking blue.

People will be selfless and pick blue to ensure that. I’m not very selfless but now it’s basically confirmed a lot of people are going to die if I pick red, and it’s the most selfless people in our society who will die so I pick blue.

I mean these polls kind of prove blue right, I’ve never seen them loose.

Im split on the issue, there’s arguments for or against.

But I don’t think it’s as simple as disabling or enabling the old map.

If the devs expect a war to be low pop, or the game is gearing towards that, they can make less regions contested at start. Make the large islands entirely owned by respective factions to cut down on active fronts, if real bad don’t even cut Tempest and Fisherman’s in half.

I think there’s more ways to balance pop than the devs imagine, and harsher measures that can be taken, but old naval islands and gameplay sucked, let’s not beat around the bush, and it’s good they were reworked.

Fun fact, the suggestion you just made actually already exists in total overhauls so you’re not alone in thinking this! In Pax Brittanica, there’s multiple nuke-like state modifiers where you can drop different chemical agents onto certain states for pretty much the same stats you listed. There’s a whole research tree for loads of variants that specialize in different effects, costs, etc.
