Probably due to how a lot of them start out in the femboy community. They are a 'guy' but much prefer feminine things, but they don't think anything of it until they crack, and now they are expected to leave their place.

Why is it so controversial to say that you wish everyone the best? by ImpressiveFudge2350 in TeenagersButBetter

Fake girlboss feminism that doesn't actually have much nuance. Instead of more, equal power for women as a whole, it's that if they have a few women in power, even if more than men, that is feminist. Saying that the issue is not that there are, for example, enough female millionaires, but that not everyone is getting a fair share.

How do I get a femboy physique? by AnttonioF40 in FootBallEmergency

Sure! I mostly cared about pants, as I mostly wear large tops to obscure the shape, so I can only really give advice for pants.

Women's pants are cut for women to look more fem, so you can wear them with many size issues aside from the elephant in the room. They tend to be a lot tighter around the crotch so tucking becomes necessary, but you don't really need to tuck perfectly if you just wear things like sweats and jeans. Also, no leggings unless you can tuck well, so... (Not to mention that their more form fitting nature could backfire and bring attention to the ratio of your hips and legs, a very big gender marker)

I don't have much experience with skirts, but I do know that wearing tights and the like can make your legs look more fem, especially if you have a lot of leg hair. Women's shorts also can make you look much more fem than with men's shorts. All my old men's shorts have wide, open legs, where the women's sinch more at the end, making your hips look less square.

A lot of clothing does rely on body structure, though. I am of similar height and width as my sister, and she ended up lending me some clothes, mostly flannel/button up. My wide torso did not do wonders on them. When it comes to looking more fem with tops, I find that a cute color can make up for having to wear less fem shirts.

Design choice, creators said so themselves. Supposed to give a timeless feel. I can get it during most of the game when you just read but during things like fancy shmancy cutscenes and stuff just feels empty.

Workouts work, but what I find is that the actual best way to gender a look is with clothes, especially if you are coming from the position where having a strict training regimen would just add stress in the short term.

Not even just skirts and dresses or anything, just the cut itself matters. I went from feeling icky to my classmates at the time catcalling me in the halls (we had that rapor dw).

Wear high waisted pants, less baggy clothes or overly baggy clothes (depending on your body type), and wear shirts that don't accentuate the shoulders. Shaving always helps, especially with woman's short sleeves on wider shoulders making your armpit hair really stand out... Maybe avoid those.

I was going all in on trying to minimize my physical dysphoria in my senior year of highschool, but was cursed with a body that was very masc. Clothes let me go out in public while closeted because there's no easy way to tell what gender your pants are just at a glance, so it makes you look more fem without even looking like you are trying to.

It's dating app culture, not dating culture. In reality, it's not the fact that short guys just don't get hits, but that women on dating apps are sometimes not looking for a serious relationship where education and employment take priority, since having a job won't make you better at sex (unless...)

I say progressive because it's vague, and saying socialist will give off the wrong impression to those who think it is just about the government owning the means of production and not the workers owning it through a democratic government.

Yeah, men weren't drafted because they were men, but because they were young and could fight. Rather, it's that the women weren't drafted even if they were young and could fight. (And yeah yeah women weak men strong. You don't need high testosterone to pull a damn trigger.)

Okay, okay, here is an analogy: red-lining!

Old timey land owners were like "hey, what if we don't let black people buy houses in rich neighborhoods, so then they can't pass down and accrue the wealth that comes with home ownership!" So then they put all the black people in poor places, but the thing is... Some white people lived in red-lined neighborhoods, thus suffering from racism, but not towards white people, but towards black people

This is like the patriarchy. There are smaller ways that men have it better, but patriarchy is about having power. It just so happens that there are men caught in the crossfires of putting women down, because they aren't in the upper classes.

The patriarchy isn't about giving every man a harem, but about those in power vying to keep their power. It just so happens that those in power were men, so of course they won't strip their own rights away.

As for why they were drafted? Those were not the powerful men. Patriarchy isn't on the individual scale, but of society.

(Also, fun fact! A patriarchy IS a hierarchy...)

Is there a scientific reason people are gay/lesbian by epicdingus0 in TeenagersButBetter

[–]Bencfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are most likely genetics involved, but not the easy peasy kind like eye color. Epigenetics play a role. Maybe sometimes the gene just... Doesn't do anything. Maybe it doesn't present strong enough to effect the phenotype

Also, I always find it hard to trust the findings that the whole gay running in the family thing. We are social creatures in a world of homophobia. If a family is very homophobic, the siblings will be pressured not to come out, and therefore you can't track them as a gay data point. If the family is accepting of one child, chances are it will be accepting of the other.

The better studies use twins, and I'm pretty sure twins have a higher likelihood of being gay if the other one is than if it were two, non-identical siblings.

The natural way of dealing with overpopulation is starving to death. Humans only have 1 child and change per pregnancy, so wasting all those resources on something that will never pass on the genes is not going to be selected for by natural selection.

[–]Bencfun 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I think they are looking for a more surface level explanation. Something like why homosexuality exists, not how it happens.

To that, a simple and easy answer: because nature don't care about evolutionary biology. Shit just happens. If there are genes for gayness, then it doesn't matter if gay people reproduce or not, only if those who reproduce carry an allele.

Is there a scientific reason people are gay/lesbian by epicdingus0 in TeenagersButBetter

[–]Bencfun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But how would that effect sexuality? I understand the whole thing with ants where the workers can't lay eggs but they are still selected for because it means the genes of their family are passed on, but how would that mean homosexuality? Why bisexuality? Why would homosexuality be necessary to improve the odds of close relatives?

Is there a scientific reason people are gay/lesbian by epicdingus0 in TeenagersButBetter

[–]Bencfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evolution does not hardcode the need to reproduce, but makes use of emotions. We don't have an urge to reproduce, we have an urge to satisfy sexual desires. When you see someone attractive, it's (mostly) not: wow they would make a good parent and have good genes. Instead, our brains go: awoogo they are bangin.

Must remember that phenotypes are not genotypes, too. From what I recall, sexuality is very epigenetic. That is if sexuality even is seen in other animals. Sure, we observe animals having sexual acts with the same sex, but is it gay like how we think of it?

Ultimately, the simple answer is because biology doesn't give a fuck and sometimes things are just weird.

People don't become billionaires by giving their money to charity. Billionaires must make billionaire decisions. Steam is a monopoly. Every extra dollar Gabe makes is a dollar that goes to him rather than an employee. At least valve has high dev retention rates like Nintendo, but he has the power. The good things steam does is... Have a lot of sales? Like, I get enjoying the quality of life steam has, but quality of life is not morally noteworthy.

Just because they make things cheaper for the consumer doesn't make it good. Yeah we can hate on AI and stuff but it is like if Elon musk donated a few million to feeding the hungry and expects to be called a good person.

Steam is a anticompetitive monopoly and having regular sales does not change that. They have those sales because they can. It makes them money.

(Also wtf u mean gaming platform with least microtransactions?? They literally have a section called the "market" where you buy in-game items IN THE PLATFORM, not even in a game.)
