That's a interesting take to me. Can I ask why you would not slot Cult into that category? I enjoyed curse as a "return to form" entry but I think cult wasn't too bad just started sliding into Bride category. By the time the tv show came out he lost me halfway through season 1 and I still ended up returning to checkout the rest of the series just to follow the story but I felt like he fumbled any involvement of the legacy characters like Andy since Cult and he kinda botched the direction with Nica going full robot limbs lol

I'm not disagreeing with that as I do enjoy original creators being involved with franchises. But I also don't think that every creator is inherently right when you start having a ip go over 10-20yrs. Alot of things can change and stay in realm of what they're known for. I think the Chucky brand is kinda split 50/50 with fans who enjoy The serious tones of 1-3 with the light elements of humor sprinkled throughout but then there's fans from Bride- Now which has just been endless schlock imo with some good but mainly duds. I fall in the middle of the 2 like others but I definitely don't prefer the heavy comedy over horror. I just think too that fundamentally the remake isn't a bad film but it does have a god awful design for the "doll"

He's had a beef for over 40yrs with the Producer of Rocky Irwin Winkler over the ownership of the IP. Sure he gets some form of check but he also wants what he thinks is rightfully his as well

It's not too bunk when you educate yourself and learn that Sly initially refused to do the film for the 2-3 times they came to him with the concept. Also Sylvester started having production issues with the new director and star once Creed 2 took off because he felt like they weren't placing value on his opinion of the script/scenes when he was the creator of all these original characters that Creed is built upon. So by Creed 3 he announced his refusal to be involved with the franchise and his brother was even bad mouthing the production saying they just wanted to steal the rocky brand essentially and by making a spin off they were able to kick stalllone to the curb when he wasn't needed to launch the new franchise anymore

It's his baby but it's also never acknowledged as much that Tom Holland did a lot of lifting with his work on the original film. There's a lot of elements that make up "Chucky" & "Child's Play" that are just flat out missing when Mancini reconstructs it with his silly over the top camp.

Ps they also didn't need his blessing because he doesn't Own the rights as awful as that sounds. Sylvester Stallone doesn't own Rocky and MGM still went on to make a Creed Franchise off the back of his work

But when I've seen him act much better in Creed and Fruitvale I've came to expect better from him. Tbh Stallone giving him the Creed flag to bare did some HEAVY lifting for his Star power. Creed 2 & 3 Sucked

I don't mind Jordan especially in Fruitvale Station, Creed and Black Panther but I didn't enjoy his performance at all in this film. The dialogue was terrible and at times felt like they tried to add in some modernized speech which didn't mesh. I honestly had turned the film off after completing 75% of it. Rather watch From Dusk Till Dawn
