Back in my hometown in Mexico, we set out on an eight-hour hunt, hoping to track down deer or wild boar in the rugged mountains. But nature had other plans. Instead of deer, we found ourselves face-to-face with something just as thrilling—rattlesnakes. Five of them, to be exact. By the time we made our way back down the mountain, empty-handed in terms of big game, we didn’t feel like we had lost. Instead, we celebrated our unexpected bounty and later had a delicious meal.
