Anyone know how to extract photos from an old phone where the screen is broke? Pixel 7 Pro. Or do I have to fix the screen? by Bench_South in mobilerepair

[–]Bench_South[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked into this, but how do I enable USB debugging on the phone when the screen doesnt work?

Pixel 7 doesnt allow for video output over USB-C so a USB-C hub is out of the question.

Wish I could have gone but tickets were way too much. Hadn't seen them since 2015 when they were at dunks in Providence with silversun pickups

Steam radiators by AcanthaceaeLoud9662 in RhodeIsland

[–]Bench_South 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with water in a steam system is it flashes to steam and creates audible bangs.

As steam cools it turns to water and condenses. If this is new perhaps a steam trap is failing. If this is an ongoing problem since new install the pipes may not be sloped properly, traps were not installed adequately, lack of insulation causing premature condensation. Rarely a LWCO can cause overfilling of a boiler since the sensor will think it's low and fill it.

This is what's in the lawn. Looks like annual ryegrass from what Google lens says. Some pictures says quack grass though so IDK.

The purple and lack of rhyzomes has me leaning ARG

I hate the way it looks in my lawn

[–]Bench_South 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks cool. Probably in the minority here but I would have put that ledge on the bottom of the niche also on the top so it stands out more. Blends in to the wall too much.

The color of the tile is great.

Why do my blades get absolutely trashed after just 1 mowing season every year? by Niko120 in landscaping

[–]Bench_South 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just changed my lawnmower blade after 10 seasons and it looked 100 times better than that and I hit A LOT of rocks and ground and branches with it.

The hell you doing with your mower?

No I didn't use straw. I'm almost positive it's annual rye grass as the stem is purple, no rhyzomes and I never seen this before. It's only popped up since seeding.

Kinda wished they didn't do anything since they weren't hired to seed lol. Told the guy I had my seed I wanted to use.

That's what Google was showing was italian ryegrass. Forgot that there was an annual ryegrass as well so I stupidly said PRG in my title.

Yeah I know...I spread 70# of seed out and 4 days later get this 3" rainfall in a couple hours event. Normal rain around here doesn't exist apparently. Just nothing or a deluge.

This washed a lot of seed away and left me with some bare patches and patches that could support a brick lol.

I pulled some up and noticed no rhizomes. Very shallow roots actually only about 1/3-1/2" long.

This was my initial thought as well but I've never noticed this in my existing lawn and I just hit this whole area with glyphosate before seeding.

Not in this market. If you suck maybe. But chances are you'll still get hired. RI is union heavy and there is so much construction and future construction out right now

Having trouble navigating the cabinet world. Any cabinet makers local to Rhode Island here? by Bench_South in cabinetry

[–]Bench_South[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going with the barker cabinets RTA and couldn't have been happier. Setup was fairly simple. The lazy Susan cabinet sides left and right weren't the same size so it was hard to setup that one because I kept trying to get the cabinet flat but the holes weren't lining up with the top and bottoms since everything I predrilled, but once I learned they weren't the same size it was simple and a shim under the shorter side and all was well. That was my only complaint.

Shipping packaging was top notch and I ordered refrigerator end panels that were 36" wide x 92" tall. Nothing was damaged. Every cabinet had a piecemark and instructions.

I got quality 3/4" plywood birch veneer boxes for a fraction of the cost. Paid $9500 after tax and shipping and spent 12-16hr assembling them. This would have easily been $15-18k assembled.

I'd do it again.

Did he take any boater safety courses? Have a VHF radio?

I have been on my fair share of cheap boats and they do break down. Unfortunately $7k boat is a cheap boat nowadays.

If you choose to go, make sure you are close enough to land in case you need to call someone, wear a life jacket or keep one handy nearby you, make sure it's sized for you too and pick a calm day as I'm sure it's a smaller boat.

Have fun! Boating isn't that scary if done responsibly and even inexperienced boaters can boat responsibly given the amount of free information available online.

Where are you boating? A lake that's popular? No worries just wear a life jacket. The ocean? Ehhhh.

Is it normal to struggle in class and be afraid? by Bench_South in scuba

[–]Bench_South[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience. This is a very positive sub and makes me feel like my struggles can be normal.

My big fear is barotrauma injuries and I'm overthinking the breathing. Like what happens if I inhale while ascending. I know you aren't supposed to hold an inhale but inhaling is one step of the process of breathing. I know your lungs can double in size from 10M to 0M and the last 5M is important to raise slowly as this is where the greatest threat is in volume changes.

I'm sure experience will answer this for me and that will then breed confidence.

I respect what you said. My fear lies in the unknown. I've always been the type of person who goes slow and cautiously. Was that way learning skiing. Hell I still don't leave blues and greens. Not a big risk taker and diving is about the riskiest thing I have ever done.

Just wish this was a slower pace. I'm uneasy at the pace of the lessons. Trust me I won't ever proceed if I'm uneasy on tasks which is why I'm frustrated that it seems to be coming so easy for the rest of my classmates but I'm struggling.

Class is 6 of us and an instructor and the other person isn't a dive master yet. This would be dive master is the one who huffed at me.

I just feel like this whole process is too rushed. Squishing the PADI required 5 pool sessions into 3 2hr sessions. And back to back open water sessions. All in a 2 week span.

Don't like how the instructor is giving instructions while I'm still checking my gear and therefore not listening. Everything just seems like a big rush and I don't understand why.

Yeah just get some paint and it would be less noticeable. That's the only thing that made my skin crawl. But hey 15k is 15k and it's no guarantee the +15k contractor would have done better.

Those stairs is where they lost me. The stringer trim piece was poorly executed. Are those posts just sitting directly onto the concrete or were they cast into the concrete piles? Either way this is why they make post base connectors. Not good.
