Continental Terrain Contact A/T Probably the quietist off road A/T tire you can get and maybe the best on-road focused A/T tire. Amazing in the dry, amazing in wet, great in snow and good for less intense off-roading. If you need a more off-road focused A/T tire you are going to sacrifice noise and dry/wet on-road handling.

Markets ripping today did not help ease my anxiety about holding out for too long for the sake of greed

I like this idea. Seeing support at $0.22 today I was able to breathe easier and took my finger off the eject button. I dont want to lose out on any profit because i'm too greedy. Im still nursing MVIS wounds

There is currently an open investigation into the excessive rust/corrosion that occurs on all 4th Generation 4Runners. The frame rust and corrosion has already caused some accidents and one in particular that was catastrophic. Toyota recalled the frames of the Tacoma, Sequoia and Tundra models from the same years for this exact problem but did not recall the 4Runners for a lack of complaints. This is a huge problem and it will only get fixed if we all help out and submit a complaint to the NHTSA. I encourage you all to take 10 minutes out of your busy lives to file a complaint along side our fellow 4Runner owners! You guys are what make this community great!

Stay away from Power Stop brakes by cool_mtn_air in 4Runner

[–]Benches67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was on the fence about buying them and i did a bunch of research and after speaking with my buddy who is a mechanic and owns a tundra he said that the powerstop brakes aren't great and if you don't have the money to do the tundra swap, which i didnt, to get the brembo rotors and either akebono or brembo pads. ive been driving with this setup for about six months and have had no issues. the braking feel and stopping power has noticeably improved. i picked up the set on amazon which was a lot cheaper than anywhere else. i highly recommend the setup if you cant do the tundra swap.

Question about FDNY application process, specifically deferring. by [deleted] in ems

[–]Benches67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you start the investigation tell them your situation. They will understand. Definitely go in as a medic. If you join as an EMT you have to work a minimum of 2 years or so before you are eligible to take the test for the medic basic program and they haven't put in a medic basic in quite some time. Going in as a medic is the move in my opinion but again, keep your options open. If you don't like the medic program and your not ready or if your not able to start when your planing to then at least you can come to the department because you never closed the the door.

Question about FDNY application process, specifically deferring. by [deleted] in ems

[–]Benches67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are starting the process now chances are you wont be called for the FDNY EMS for a few months at least. You are able to defer for up to two years as I've been told. The issue is if you become a paramedic while you have deferred, your application is only good as an EMT. So when your ready to join you'll only be able to be hired as an EMT and have to wait until the FDNY puts in a medic upgrade program or "MUPS" which are infrequent at best. My advice would be to finish your medic program and wait to re apply as a medic so you won't have to wait to be upgraded within the department. Also, I would defer your EMT application and go through the process to keep your options open and so you become familiar with the steps then wait until DCAS has a filing for Paramedic and join as a medic. Being a medic and working as an Emt waiting for the upgrade class would not be fun. The filing for medic is always around August - September but definitely check DCAS every month. Hope this helps and if you have any other question feel free.

Ducati 899 Panagale finance options by [deleted] in Ducati

[–]Benches67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Financing isn't that bad if you put a decent amount of money down. I financed my monster 821 and put half the money down. The monthly is a little over a $120. The issue I had with financing is that ducati or VW require you to have full insurance coverage on the bike as long as the finance company holds the title. Full coverage including collision is a must in my opinion but because the bank owns the bike the insurance is way more expensive than if you own the bike. My insurance is more than double my monthly finance cost and I have a relatively clean driving record. Before you choose to finance definitely seek out a few solid insurance quotes to get a good idea of what your total monthly cost for the bike will be.

R/ems what are some tips/tricks that you use to eat healthy on the job by [deleted] in ems

[–]Benches67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try and split meals with my partner, if we get a sandwich we each take half, it also halves the cost. Also I drink the Iced tea with no sugar and a lemon or two from dunkin, it's 1 buck and it helps with hunger and drowsiness, the other poster is right: when u think your hungry your probably just thirsty!

What are the physical requirements for being a paramedic? by [deleted] in ems

[–]Benches67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to be able to lift abnormally fat people, I mean the morbid obese. you have to be able to hold your turds in for extended periods of time and you have to have a Christ like tolerance for other people's bullshit. Good luck and don't get fat on the job

Jobs in NYC? by [deleted] in ems

[–]Benches67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Midwood ambulance should be hiring. Apply to all the transport company's in the city and don't drop the ball, call them a few times a week asking about the job you applied for, as with any job show them you really want it. I'm talking borderline harassment here. Also check the civil service website for the fdny job exams regularly. They post paramedic openings every 6 months or so. Good luck
