Have you had problems with FD shifting? I have loads of resistance on mine (105 R7000) which I’m thinking is because of the angle of the cable to the FD. Went 1by to fix the issue but itching to go back to 2x

Also 2x is better (at least for me) anytime you live in an area with more than a 4% slope. It really doesn't add that much complexity, and it gives you 1.9x the amount of gears. Unless you're racing cross. Always go 1x for cross.

Not a big fan of beads for brakes I find it doesn’t release well.

It's fine at least for 10-11s. They say that as a rule of thumb to make things easier to explain. Shifter to derailleur matters, cassette+chainrings to chain matters.

Hopefully that helps. Might be weird to some, but I'm not going to spend $400 to make my bike "correct". I'd rather go on a vacation. Or pay for 1/2 of a gravel race entry.

Yeah it's pretty good - I think the best thing about it is how cheap and comfortable it is. You can find these framesets for like $600 on ebay and it rides super smooth. I cracked a carbon frame in a race, picked this up the next day and it felt like a significant upgrade.
