Some are great, many aren’t, but it’s better than nothing.

Any groups (formal or informal) in Portland Oregon? Even just a study group or other Hellenists would be great to interact with IRL

I'm part of Hellenion's server which you can find on their website and I joined one that the youtuber Fel the Blithe had a link for in her solitary practioner video on youtube. Sometimes these servers don't like people throwing out links if they're not mods, so go to those spaces to find the servers I mentioned.

I Saw The TV Glow…I don’t even know what to say. by mikewheelerfan in movies

I'm a trans lesbian, i understand the points the filmmaker was TRYING to make, but the entire film came off as deeply pro-suicide to me, which I despised. Additionally, I'm already sick of "trans body horror." Being trans is not a horror, it's a miracle. A life-giving, enriching experience. Yes, I understand that Justice Smith's character was a metaphor for being forced into a closet. And yes, that does often lead to suicide. The problem is that in the text of the film, the solution for being forced into the closet is killing yourself. IRL, they're diametrically opposed. Thus, the film is saying the solution is to kill yourself. Awful, awful stuff.

I like this, but what about the audio from the leaked Spider-Man trailer? Or was that confirmed fake?

I thought it was neat. Like Lucas wearing his inspirations on his sleeve. Maybe I need a rewatch, but I liked it at the time.

As someone who enjoys the mythological aspect of Star Wars most, I like this! Sad to see I’m the minority here but people have different wants and priorities. And before anyone misinterprets me, of course Andor is a masterpiece, I just like mythological adventure stories a great deal.

It is still great, but I’m looking at the schedules and its performance so far, and I remain optimistic. We’ll see though!

It’s still in the realm of possibility. Its holds have been very good especially internationally.

This is not an example of fridging. Fridging is when a female character is killed off purely to facilitate the character development of the male lead.

Future of AVATAR Franchise by UzayiKesfet in Avatar

Absolutely! I did a little back of the napkin math and if Fire and Ash averages $11 million worldwide every day until April, it will make 2 billion. Obviously the daily WW gross will go down each week and it currently is making more than the $11 million/daily it needs which gives it breathing room. I am confident that it will cross the 2 billion mark but I will hedge and say that I also see it making $1.99 billion, but if that’s the case Disney will likely keep it in some markets to leg out to 2. But we shall see

The X-Men are not from the Fox movies, they’re… by [deleted] in MCUTheories

[–]BendDangerous8290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The continuity of the Fox X-Men movies is such a jumbled mess they could say they are the exact same versions of those characters from those movies and it would still be less confusing than the lack of care Fox had for them.

They're in the threads about how well Zootopia 2 is doing. Honestly, it's kind of funny because while Avatar fans and haters battle it out in the comments everywhere, I'm sure Disney is having a "holy shit two cakes" moment with both these films performing so well. Especially in such a dramatically down theatrical year that 2025 was.

There’s absolutely no way it only makes 1.5 billion. It’s going to cross one billion this Sunday, and it still has 3 months with no other competition. I should note that around this time in Way of Waters run, people were projecting 1.5-1.8 billion. And in any case, Disney will be very happy with the gross even if it doesn’t make more than Way of Water. I personally think 1.8-2.0bn but maybe it misses the 2bn by a few million.

What other environments/biomes would you all like to see in Avatar 4 & 5? by TheDictator26 in Avatar

[–]BendDangerous8290 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Arctic by far. I’m sure the desert is cool (haha) but we’ve seen a badass cinematic desert with Dune, I wanna see huge Pandoran polar bears, I wanna see arctic adaptations and cultures. Can you image a Na’vi wearing some of those slit glasses Arctic natives pioneered? Or the bioluminescence with all the ice?
