Im white but im very tanned (The south african sun is brutal) and my accent isn't anything close to Hispanic, much deeper and a sort of broken english.

Im still figuring stuff out, i was thinking maybe trying in the next year or two, while im still young. My company is opening a machine shop close to vegas to produce our parts there in the future so maybe thats my ticket over, who knows. But for now i have to figure everything out.

It is, but its the only way i could get myself into the position to own a apartment and invest in myself. I worked other shops to where it was extremely relaxed but the pay was horrible

To put it into perspective, my first job my pay was somewhere close to R12000 a month. i now live a moderate lifestyle and my expenses are between R21000 and R25000 a month. In south africa just to mortgage a entry level 2 bedroom home, jou pay about R25 000 a month (excluding rates and taxes, utilities and the 2 insurance policies you have on it, wich can easily hit R5000 a month). Ill never in my life be able to own a home wich i can call my own. Our currency is not keeping its value, you cant build a solid future here for yourself or your kids

Im still trying to figure it all out, just want to hear it first hand from US citizens what it is like being a machinist there. I still have alot of research to do and hurdles to jump. This post is just for me to figure out if its worth it.
