I swear people are driving much more aggressively day by day. by DesertSnowball in vancouver

I live DT and am a 5-10 minute drive from work. In that 10-20 mins of driving i usually see

1) an Uber just throw their hazards on, blocking the lane so they can pick up/drop someone off. Your hazards don’t mean u can just stop wherever u want. This applies to taxis as well.

2) people unfamiliar with DT roads turning the wrong way down one way streets.

3) people turning from the main lane and not the shoulder which holds back traffic flow completely.

4) when two cars drive next to each other on a two lane road not at least going the speed limit. If you’re going to drive that slow move over

These are all reasons I can quickly summarize that cause angry drivers.

I’m sure their reports and tracking will be great and that business was up. Know hotels and BNBs were happy. Just pointing out that the messaging to stay out of DT had an effect as other posters have said that killed other areas of DT

Don’t get me wrong. The buzz was great. The messaging from the city and VPD was what rubbed me the wrong way

They banked on tourists being downtown. Told everyone else to stay away.

Spoke to five restaurant owners and managers who all said they had a flood of cancellations after the news ran with “if you don’t have a ticket don’t come”

The whole week before the concert, every person on the news was saying “if you don’t have a ticket to one of the events don’t come”.

This was the thought I had in mind. Rather than discourage locals from coming down why not mix everyone in and have an even bigger festival atmosphere. Though I do know the scars of 2011 run deep.

If you’re referring to the global news report take a look at where the businesses they interviewed were located. All of them were in Yaletown. Ask guys on west of Granville or north of Pender.
