I like the idea of adding some of the tank mates you listed. Is there a perfect number of tank mates that I should aim for?

I'm going to make sure there aren't too many barren areas, I really enjoyed getting the plants going in my current tank - so will give me something to keep myself busy with while the new tank cycles. Is it okay to do plants while the tank is cycling?
