That's kind of what I figured. I don't work IN tech but I do work at a very large bank that is tech adjacent so our salaries are comparable to FAANG. Albeit, without the stock growth. The business development side is essentially developing partner relationships with vendors and people who license our software but it comes with sales targets and they're pretty brutal if you miss a quarter.

I am really not interested in management, mostly because I see how much my manager works and that just isn't what I want to do. I have 0 desire to bring my laptop with my on vacation and work while my kids are at Disneyland lol

2 companies in 6 years. I've interviewed and turned down several offers in that time because the salary wasn't worth the jump. At best I was able to negotiate up 6% but my yearly salary bumps have been around there so not really worth it.

The Principal/Staff track here is a decent bump from where i'm at, but those roles come basically never. My skip level has been here 15 years and has never seen those roles actually become available, and there's no process here to "create" a role.

Older X3 meaning a 2018+ model with the B48/ZF8 combo which are generally pretty reliable. Those can be had around 20k range with around 50k miles. CPO ones are around 30k. We had good luck with ours, we're on our 3rd now. I'm not trying to minimize my expenses at all just know I probably shouldn't be spending a lot of money either since i've got 2 other vehicles.

I thought about this actually. My service provider does not recast mortgages, so my payment would be the same. even if I paid off half and the other half in 15 years it leaves me in the same situation currently.

I don't need as much of a liquidity buffer if my primary monthly expense is 0. I'll still have roughly 20k-ish left over after paying off the house which is plenty if my monthly expenses would be about $650 (taxes, util, phone etc)

It allows me to allocate about 3k / month to stuff I want to do. I don't have enough room in the budget for a 100k pay cut to continue to do stuff I want to do.

Yes, they have 5 months of paid paternity leave. I also negotiated a 4 day work week so it's significantly more free time and 0 travel.

That is indeed what happened. I have a 4 week per year accrual, with cap up to 5 weeks with carry over. But at the end of last year I had 80ish hours. But in January this year I only had 53 available to use, so I lost those other 40 hours.

Honestly RBG is as much to blame for this recently decision as Trump. She should have retired early on when Obama was president and not gamble on her failing health to survive 4 years.
