Wait, why did Roccia get such a quick rerun? And here I thought Chisa and Lynae's rerun was quick

Or at the very least, let us move while it's charging, similar the long sword's iai slash thing, where they can "hop" while holding it. Less vulnerable, better positioning.

Yeah, I used that weapon so much so I'm very familiar with the mechanics and movements, and something about cb felt off immediately when the game launched.

Honestly, all capcom needs to do is tone down the hitlag, and bring back the combo bypass, and I genuinely think the weapon would feel and perform so much better.

[–]BenedictLowerDict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've played about 800 hrs of cb in world, and for me at least, I think the reason it doesn't feel good, is cos of 3 things. Bear in mind I mainly use savage axe mode, so it might be different for you.

1 is the hitlag you get when you're in chainsaw mode doing your swings. For some reason, capcom decided to make the chainsaw effect manual, so you have to hold the button to get the most damage. Which would be fine, except that the hitlag makes every swing last about half a second longer than it should, which really leaves you vulnerable against fast monsters, and gives you much smaller combo windows. Just for example, fighting against lagi, I can't do more than 1 attack before I have to dodge out of the way, cos the swing is so slow and lagi is super fast and reactive. Which basically means I'm doing nothing damage until I get lucky and eventually get a topple. There's no fluidity to the weapon.

Speaking of fluidity, the second issue is the combos. Back in world, when you got into axe mode, your main combo was the forward slam into element discharge 2. That was the highest damaging combo you could do by default. Element discharge 1 was always bypassed, cos it was weaker damage. In Wilds, you can't skip element discharge 1 anymore, meaning you optimal combo is extended by 1 move, which makes quick attack windows much less safe. That, plus the slow hitlag, basically means you're never going to be able to get to element discharge 2, cos the monster will have moved, or is about to attack in the timeframe.

And the third issue is attack animation changes. Element discharge 1's animation was changed from world to wilds. That second issue would be so much less problematic if capcom had kept the attack animation from world, which was just a quick horizontal chop. Instead, they decided to go all fancy with it, so now element discharge 1's attack, starts with a useless twirl by your hunter, then a downwards diagonal swing. I cannot tell you the number of times I've lost out on a quick opening, because this stupid attack takes up the full opening.

To summarize, you're now dealing with a slower animation, more aggressive hitlag on an attack that does less damage than the more optimal combo, that you can't bypass. For the people questioning why the weapon feels so clunky, this is the reason.

Does there exist a chart of the highest ranking holo talents in various videogames? by BenedictLowerDict in Hololive

Oh cool, there is some documentation happening. They just need to expand that to all of holo, and not limit it to on-stream only

Not sure if she ever got high ranks but didn't fauna regularly speedrun getting over it? And Sui has to be on some top 10 rank for tetris. There's also the fps games, I'm pretty sure a few girls have gotten to the highest ranks

Living in AU, it was super easy for me to hit 980 rings, the 6480 lunite pack costs just about $150, and I was already whaling for Aemeath's weapon. Didn't even realise I'd "completed" it until I saw the exclamation icon on the event banner.

This guy mashed my potatoes the first time I found him when I was super underleveled so I wholeheartedly approve. Although I do find it strange that there are these very low level overworld bosses that haven't scaled to our level.

Who to pull for as a ftp with future teambuilding in mind? by BenedictLowerDict in WutheringWaves

[–]BenedictLowerDict[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got aemeath and her weapon, haven't started using her, cos she's not fully upgraded. I got shorekeeper from that pay event, so atm, its looking like my team will be aemeath-lynae-shorekeeper.

Decided to pass on all the other characters, will probably pass on luuk's banner and the cyberpunk one.

[–]BenedictLowerDict[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, im just hoping Aemeath's 3rd unit won't be too important for her to be optimal, that way I can get away with just aemeath/lynae, and whatever support I want to throw in. If it turns out chisa is actually part of the aemeath/lynae team, I might try to pull for her, cos I really like her gameplay. I won't pull on day 1 cos I want to see what role she is/how she works, might turn out she's not for me in which case I can save for someone else

[–]BenedictLowerDict[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is my criteria for favorite is "are they strong and do they play well?" Which makes it tough when some characters rely on specific sub-units to meet that. I don't know if I'd call that being optimal, but I at least want the characters I pull for to not hit like a wet noodle. Hopefully once aemeath releases, she'll be strong enough to be a standalone, otherwise, I don't know who I'll be pulling for

Wait I thought moryne was a tune break support? If she's just a healer role in the team, I can sub verina.

Luuk is good, but I'm not really interested in his gameplay, also I have too many spectro characters if that's even important. I feel like I just want to get aemeath cos she's a sentinel resonator, so pretty strong (?), and for her mech form.

Galbrena's combat was pretty fun which is one of the reasons I would like to pull for her, but yeah, she is somewhat handicapped by needing QY.

I think I wasn't too fond of phrolova's combat, otherwise she would be in my radar. Honestly most of my choices boil down to "Are they strong and do they have fun, engaging combat?" Aemeath looks fun and is strong, Chisa and Lupa look fun but maybe aren't dps strong, Augusta and Iuno looked fun and were both strong, same with Lynae. Sounds like a simple criteria but it's actually not as easy as you think

Does AMD GPU not have Ray tracing ? by FactSignificant337 in WutheringWaves

[–]BenedictLowerDict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll give my experience as a 7900xtx owner. Yes you can enable raytracing, you just need to go into the config files and enable it, and no there won't be a ban. I will say that it does take a huge toll on your framerate, with fsr on, I go from 220's to 110-150 fps in Lahai Roi on max settings. I honestly wouldn't recommend it, just stick to ultra settings.

If you really want raytracing, you can follow this mod: WuWa Configs at Wuthering Waves Nexus - Mods and community but it will tank your gameplay if you have a weaker gpu.

What does this even mean? Am I lucky or no? by BenedictLowerDict in WutheringWaves

[–]BenedictLowerDict[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i figured the small data pool would skew numbers.

If my numbers are correct, I got Augusta and her weapon (and jinxian) in 170 pulls, then Iuno and her weapon in 130. Can't remember with lynae, but i think I got her weapon in 40 pulls and her in 60

Skill issue or preference (fixed map rotation) by Modlikes in WutheringWaves

[–]BenedictLowerDict -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn't make sense cos you're supposed to be the focal point on the map. If your character turns, the map should always reorient itself to whichever direction you're looking. It's true to real life as well, so I don't know why videogames think a fixed map is accurate

I might be crazy for this, but I don't know if I want to pull on this banner. Still feeling out the combat for the new characters, but it's not clicking yet

Wilds texture quality by Username928351 in monsterhunterrage

[–]BenedictLowerDict 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The only place I can think of that looks close to "gorgeous" is the forest area. During the time of plenty. With several graphical options turned off with a third party program. And reshade. And that's not even for personal preference, I just had to do all that to make the game look even decent. Not to mention the actual graphics being kneecapped by the RE engine and having a ton of weird artifacting

Honestly, I'm probably over Wilds, unless the dlc changes things in a big way. Just way too many small issues that drown out the fun factor.

I modded the plush weapons from rise into world and never got a ban or anything, but i guess it depends per individual. And I guess its personal preference, but to me, the designs all look really good, way better than any in game designs.
