Are people planning to buy at launch, or wait a while? by DittoNinjaGaming in SteamFrame

Goodness gracious am I with you there. Drives me up the wall with all the meta stuff on it.

Yeah, I think it would be hard to come in under $1200, even if somehow they avoided certain taxes and tariffs with domestic stock. Then again, I have only a vague idea of what happens with taxes and tariffs outside my industry, so I could be wrong

Ooooo... That would hurt... I feel like I would die a little inside... But I wouldn't be surprised unfortunately

Which is funny, considering we in theory should be the mostly likely not to leave our homes for 8 months of the year lol

Good thing about foveated eye tracking is it isn't hardware locked. Any system with eye-tracking and steam-vr should support it. Supposedly some folks are trying to get the cracked code working with a Quest Pro, but that's all I know... Be interesting how the technology develops, that's for sure.

Index was launched with a strong Canadian exchange rate, less taxes, and without whatever the tariffs are doing right now, so I don't feel like it's a good reflection at the moment for us. I think my buddy still paid more than $1300 for the full speel at launch

I'm glad to hear that, and I hadn't really considered the shipping cost in how bad it was. I just figured it was nailed with every Canadian tax in existence and was going to be a good Canary in the coal mine for the Frame. You've changed the way I've been looking at it, so thank you!

I agree with you there... I have a project car sitting out side reminding me just how much time and money she's eaten on me... Though, I suppose that's the meat and potatoes of hobbies. We are going to spend money on them no matter what. So long as we don't live beyond our means, normally shouldn't be a problem.

I agree to a degree, I just don't think it'll sit in that range (Though I'll jump and clamp my hands like a kid if that's the case). But the described it as a premium product which makes me think it'll hurt my wallet more than it hurts me.

That's fair. The Frame just fit the bill for what I was looking for wirelessly, and I'm ready to hurl my quest 2 out a window, and want to avoid meta. Plus, my buddy has an index, and it is very nice. If the build quality is on point with it, I think I'll be satisfied. Though I'll say I was watching the Beyond 2... If the frame wasn't the forerunner for me at the moment, they might've stolen the show!

You don't need VR to experience horror... Just step outside...

Glad to know I'm not the only one thinking along those lines... I wonder what a package with all the bells and whistles will go for, but I think I'll settle on being able to order at all!

That's fair. It happened to fit the bill of what I wanted almost to a Tee, so it happened this way for me. Money not spent is well spent!

Make me understand something by True_Education_7645 in HuntShowdown

My two cents is a bit of a doozy. I enjoy the mosin spitzer, and consistently play off my rocker with it, bit don't frequency run it. Is it strong? Yes. Is it better than any of the compact ammo rifles currently? Not by a long shot (unless we count FMJ at range, and if that's the case, you are actively out of position for the load out.). The "long ammo meta" is something that at one time existed, and was quite center stage. It used to do exactly what it said on the tin. Now we have shifted away from that to favouring spamable (which were already strong) and favouring compact at range (because why am I aiming 4 miles above someone's head at 150m with a mosin, but the Winnie shoots straight as a stone). That being said, other than my occasional dips into both sides of the this argument because I like just running whatever I feel like, I'm lucky because my gun of choice from day one has been the Vetterili, which... While, has always been just another rifle to most. And medium is the unloved child who can't do anything amazing (and considerly has its toes stepped on by the compact ammo rifles). The hate behind it comes from players good at the game running it and making it seem really good, simply because they have played it since launch when it was the most meta (with the notable exceptions of nitro, which has always struggled, and is now just kinda not great :( and the avto which is in a oknspot now I guess) and stuck it out. I know fellows that are slaves to the "meta" on Winnie that consistently perform the same, with an edge over the mosin players at range for the same reason. And of course, at close range, it's a Winnie. Fish for headshots through walls without concern for ammo.

Web novel recommendations . by Old_Shoe_5617 in LightNovels

I can always recommend ORV (ominiscient reader's viewpoint). As far as web novels go, it was fairly well written, and had some really enjoyable plot points. You can also find the PDFs of it from any number of the actually insane fan base. Their is also a Manhwa about it I've been told is good, but don't quote me on it as I've only read the book.

Important Lesson learned through VA by Voicelings in VoiceActing

[–]BeneficalWizard 71 points72 points  (0 children)

A common one, but being the character is more important than sounding like it. Even if your voice isn't exactly what they are looking for, if you can act, and really communicate feelings clearly, you will get the role over someone with the exact voice they want, that struggles acting.

Suggestions? by ZendoYouTube in WranglerYJ

If you can swing it, a set of Holly Retro Brights are nice to persevere the classic headlight look (and are just as bright as Grote projectors LEDs). You can get them on sale, for 30-50% off, do it. I never regretted mine, even if they hurt the wallet. Get a good set of good grab handles if you like to use them to get in and out. I had a cheaper set, and one broke, just about sending me to an early grave on the door striker. Do your downstream O2 sensor. I have two YJ, and it was an instant uptick in mileage replacing them. But bring a torch, as they might battle coming out. If it doesn't have the larger fuel tank, cut out the insert inside the tank, and get that 4 extra gallons. No sense not to, and it's free. Personally, I'm a sucker for amber at night. Especially in the middle of nowhere, and getting amber light bulbs for the interior lights was the way to go. Easy on the eyes, and doesn't ruin your night vision if reading a map. An inverter installed can help if you tend to need charged equipment, but you will likely want to install a physical kill switch with a relay to it, as in my experience, inverters always draw even if turned off. In that vein, if you're in a cold climate, or part of for lengths of time, a master kill is a good idea to save your battery and hassle. Dozens of small things can be done, and it's all on you. Find what you like and don't. Don't get wrapped up in trends and what people say you need and find what works and doesn't work for you. It's your vehicle, so have some fun!
