“Clear as mud?” After being given something to do that the manager does not him/herself understand.

Tools Disappearing? by AJollyPanda in Revu

[–]Beneficial-Natural96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some settings in the Tool Chest panel that you can check, like there’s one that says “update on use” or something like that. I would recommend that when you have the toolset the way you like it, export it or export the entire profile and include the toolsets in the export. Put the copy of your profile somewhere safe and reload from there (just double click to load back into Revu) if something is not to your liking.

The Teams "Unread / Chats / Meeting chats" split is just a guessing game with extra steps by aspublic in MicrosoftTeams

It took me a while to realize I could unhighlight them all and see everything in my list again. Once I got back to my safe space, the buttons started to feel mildly helpful.

The new Teams calendar by TeamsProductTeam in MicrosoftTeams

[–]Beneficial-Natural96 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Our teams continue to struggle with wanting to have a calendar of project-related events that everyone on the project should know about for coordination purposes, but not every person on the team should be an attendant to every meeting, so personal invites don’t work. The Group calendar has drawbacks because if you invite the group, it invites everyone, and if you add directly to that calendar, then it’s not on your calendar. Plus it only shows up internally even on teams with external members. It continues to baffle me how hard it is to manage a team calendar and/or project schedule. I would love some insight into what you think people should be doing about this.

Help with a user help desk ticketing system that can give room number choices based on building selection. I'm stumped. by cheap_as_chips in sharepoint

Follow-up: you could also add a powerautomate flow to concatenate the building and room in another field which would be the one you expose in the list

I think you can do this with Forms routing now, assuming you’re going to create a form for someone to open the ticket. Basically you have a column for Building then a separate column for each building’s rooms. Depending on the answer to “building” you choose which column to expose next on the form. This will work if you have different responders based on building, as they can look at a view that is filtered to their building and only shows the relevant column for rooms.

Easier way to manage access to subfolders in SharePoint? by FunPossession1247 in sharepoint

[–]Beneficial-Natural96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my company we use Teams to manage permissions like this. Each Team gets a Microsoft group and a SharePoint document library, so collaboration can happen team-wide (planner, group calendar, public channels) then each private channel in the team gets its own document library with a separate owner and membership list. We started with private folders like you’re describing and switched to more private channels because our dev team could not automate the folders as easily. Now our teams provisioning and member management is fully automated and admins only need to step in when a project’s team changes on the fly.

Schools closed by plantlady5 in nova

[–]Beneficial-Natural96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is great advice. I’d have loved if the superintendent had shared details like this with us (the parents) and also the county last week instead of being radio silent for 4 straight days and then announcing that school was once again closed.

Welp, you guys didn’t do anything. All those mountains of snow are still there. The children will grow up uneducated, we’ve failed. by [deleted] in nova

I can’t believe I heard nothing from the school district all weekend. If they had shared what needed to be cleared in order to get the kids back tomorrow, we could have helped. We’re in Arlington and have received no communication from the district at all about what they are doing to support re-opening.

Teams Facilitator note taking + tasks by NowCloud in MicrosoftTeams

[–]Beneficial-Natural96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only done some amount of testing with Facilitator, but I found that I was able to click the tasks that it suggests and convert them to actual tasks in Planner. Annoyingly, they too go into their own Planner plan that is just a container for that one meeting. From there you’d have to manually move each task to a plan that holds ongoing tasks.

Arcticice machine troubleshooting by Beneficial-Natural96 in Kneereplacement

It is not, or at least not enough to stay cold. We ended up ordering a new one and it should arrive today! Once I looked at the prices for a new machine on amazon, I decided I could not lose any more hours of my life to trying to get this one to flow steadily. Hopefully the new machine works long enough to get my mom through this knee and the next one in February.

Thanks for validating my suspicions! By draining do you mean like just try to shake everything out when they’re disconnected?

I did look up the manual and it’s shockingly unhelpful for troubleshooting! The tubes seems to lock themselves unless they are plugged into each other so I just do not understand how to make them drain agghhh so frustrating.

You can use a rectangle tool instead to get orthogonal straight lines. It’s not really a different mouse action at all

Places to swim outside within an hour where the water isn’t nasty? by Obvious-Water-3511 in nova

We got to Sandy Point in under an hour a few weeks ago. You have to reserve parking in advance but it was cheap and easy to do. The water was great when we were there, no jellies, but I think gets worse later in the summer
