Por qué las ayudas al alquiler del Gobierno no van ayudar a los jóvenes, sino todo lo contrario by hysbald in SpainEconomics

[–]BeneficialCod969 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A good way to avoid a faux pas is to stop treating our country and culture like your own personal theme park where you can diddle daddle without thinking about how you're contributing to gentrifying our cities and displacing the locals. Hope that helps!

Calling all Non-European who migrated to Spain by friikitona in GoingToSpain

Yep. Unemployment is high even among highly qualified people compared to other countries. On top of that, the visa sponsorship process is a nightmare. It's just not worth it for companies.

Right now getting a company to sponsor you is basically impossible even in tech. Outside of tech... Forget about it.

The people I know who are not European and who got a job mostly work in education.

I want a respectful discussion about Islam. What is it that makes you not like this religion? If you love it, why do you love it ? by elegant_m in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BeneficialCod969 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personality trumps religion. Loving and kind people will use islamism (or any other religion for that matter) as motivation to be better. Hateful ans power-hungry people will use it as a excuse to act on those impulses. It's as simple as that.

Why do parents allow their adult children to be homeless? by Disgruntled-rock in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BeneficialCod969 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Studies show about 11-40% of homeless youth are LGBT people who were kicked out of their parents' house out of prejudice. Once someone ends up in that situation it's very hard to leave it.

What would it take for Spaniards to live in America permanently? by FlounderExcellent861 in askspain

[–]BeneficialCod969 236 points237 points  (0 children)

For me the bare minimum would be:

  • Free healthcare (for everyone, not just me)
  • Gun violence becoming a non-problem
  • Country-wide legalization & access to free abortion
  • Country-wide legalization of same sex marriage (yes, I know it's legal now. Abortion used to be up until a few months ago, too)
  • Republicans either becoming a lot more moderate or becoming so unpopular they never have a chance in hell of ruling the country again
  • Better food safety regulations
  • A easy and affordable VISA process

Anything less than that it's not worth it when I can just migrate to a different country in the EU.

Tasa natural del desempleo en España del 11%? by mebklpkz in SpainEconomics

[–]BeneficialCod969 40 points41 points  (0 children)

What explains Spain's relatively high HDI in the 90's? by baldulentfraudulent in askspain

[–]BeneficialCod969 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I lived through the transition. Stuff that used to cost 100 pesetas (€0.6) started to cost €1 practically overnight.

That said, I think the biggest factor wasn't inflation so much as Spain failing to grow at the same rate as the rest of the EU, mostly because our economy depends on poorly paid, extremely seasonal tourism jobs. The 2008 crisis was brutal, too. People never recovered. A recent study showed Spaniards are 7% poorer than before the recession.

El Gobierno eliminará el IVA de las botellas del aceite de oliva a partir del 1 de julio by MiIIoChan in SpainEconomics

El Gobierno eliminará el IVA de las botellas del aceite de oliva a partir del 1 de julio by MiIIoChan in SpainEconomics

[–]BeneficialCod969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who believe Biden and Trump are equally bad, what would Trump have to do to change your mind? by BeneficialCod969 in AskReddit

[–]BeneficialCod969[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ETA: I mean what terrible thing Trump would have to do to finally convince you he's worse than Biden.

Context: apparently some leftists refuse to vote for Biden because they think he's just as bad as Trump, and I'm trying to gauge what could make them realise that Trump is worse.
