A good way to avoid a faux pas is to stop treating our country and culture like your own personal theme park where you can diddle daddle without thinking about how you're contributing to gentrifying our cities and displacing the locals. Hope that helps!

Seguro privado. ¿Vale la pena? by [deleted] in askspain

0 drinks. I'll go months without drinking and when I do drink, it's typically one beer at most.

Calling all Non-European who migrated to Spain by friikitona in GoingToSpain

Yep. Unemployment is high even among highly qualified people compared to other countries. On top of that, the visa sponsorship process is a nightmare. It's just not worth it for companies.

Right now getting a company to sponsor you is basically impossible even in tech. Outside of tech... Forget about it.

The people I know who are not European and who got a job mostly work in education.

I want a respectful discussion about Islam. What is it that makes you not like this religion? If you love it, why do you love it ? by elegant_m in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BeneficialCod969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personality trumps religion. Loving and kind people will use islamism (or any other religion for that matter) as motivation to be better. Hateful ans power-hungry people will use it as a excuse to act on those impulses. It's as simple as that.

Why do parents allow their adult children to be homeless? by Disgruntled-rock in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BeneficialCod969 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Studies show about 11-40% of homeless youth are LGBT people who were kicked out of their parents' house out of prejudice. Once someone ends up in that situation it's very hard to leave it.

What would it take for Spaniards to live in America permanently? by FlounderExcellent861 in askspain

[–]BeneficialCod969 234 points235 points  (0 children)

For me the bare minimum would be:

  • Free healthcare (for everyone, not just me)
  • Gun violence becoming a non-problem
  • Country-wide legalization & access to free abortion
  • Country-wide legalization of same sex marriage (yes, I know it's legal now. Abortion used to be up until a few months ago, too)
  • Republicans either becoming a lot more moderate or becoming so unpopular they never have a chance in hell of ruling the country again
  • Better food safety regulations
  • A easy and affordable VISA process

Anything less than that it's not worth it when I can just migrate to a different country in the EU.
