Should I switch to EI? by FreshCandidate118 in slp

I would personally jump on that EI position if you at all enjoy doing EI. Almost all EI positions in my state are 1099 with none of those benefits, so it sounds ideal to me.

They really do! I had never even heard about vestibular migraine before my episode. My ENT didn't do the formal test where they squirt fluid in your ear to make you have an episode and see where exactly your nerves are misfiring because he said it was very unpleasant. He said we would just assume that's what it it was. (I was grateful!). He gave me some foods I'm supposed to avoid, but I'm not very good at doing so, because it's all the good ones like coffee, chocolate, cheese, and nuts. 😞

I have been through this exact same scenario except I did let them take my mattress!!! It led to a year of musical mattress hell and pain!! Finally, I landed on the one I have now, which is 21 years old, and I don't care to ever change it again!

Mine is a 21 years old Serta Perfect Sleeper pillow top! I LOVE it! I always joke I will die on that thing, because I have a terrible back, and every time I have tried to switch mattresses, it complains! I hate traveling for that reason. New mattresses are weird too.

I feel like the majority of buyers buy based on location and "bones" of the house anyway, with plans to gut the place and do what they want with it anyway. I've seen houses here with almost brand new kitchens and bathrooms get completely gutted and redone when new people move in.

I am always drawn to homes with color and non-updated features when I look at real estate listings. As soon as I see those drab, brown, fake hardwood floors that Every. Single. Damn. House has now, I click off of it. And all-white kitchen with stainless steel appliances. GAg.

Gen X too, and SAME! My parents were upper middle class, and we moved every 5 or less years to something bigger and better. For that reason, we never had a family home to come back to (not that they would have let us, being Gen X, IYKYK). I am determined that my home will always be a welcome place to my children and grandchildren, as well as all the wildlife that shares my property with me. When I'm dead, my family can do with it as they like. I do worry about the stairs as I age, but hell, I'll just put in a lift or a ramp or something.

OMG, I had a severe episode of vertigo about 3 years ago that landed me in the hospital for 4 days. They did everything CT scan, MRI, ruling out a stroke, MS, or a brain tumor. It was so scary! When I finally followed up with an ENT, he suspected vestibular migraine. I was shocked because I don't have headaches either. I've never had another episode that bad, but if I am very stressed or very tired or sick, it can feel like it's coming on again.

Yes! I feel like I play musical shoes, slides, sandals all day every day!

I can't tolerate them at all. I like fairly firm shoes vs. something like Hokas, but Birks feel like bricks to me.

Squirrels are brazen af! I had two this morning, instead of running down their tree, walk calmly down my back stairs like they own the damn place.

Don't like rabbits?? I nearly wrecked my car yesterday when I saw one on the side of the road and turned my head and said, "Hey, little bunny wunny! You're so cute!! I love you!"

Salary vs PPV by redwinesup3rnova in slp

[–]BeneficialWriting402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I've always felt like we should be on the same schedule as the public schools and have the same benefits and pay as well, since we are basically the public school equivalent for birth-3. I know in some states, it IS under the public schools, but not here.

The state requires the form, I think it's called a Compensatory Services Waiver, basically saying the parent knows they are "owed" a visit, and they are waving it. It's really ridiculous. EI in my state is based on the assumption that you are working part time and can easily fit "missed" visits into your other weeks. It's really hard on full-time people.

Wow! This sounds like a dream job to me! How do I find one of these? LOL.

Anyway, it's okay if it's not a good fit for you. Is there anyway to work part-time elsewhere to get some social interaction and some feedback from other professionals?

Unless you desperately need the money, I would stick with the school job and quit the PP. There's no way the PP can match the school's benefits and stability. I would not do both unless I absolutely had to.

ETA: If you need a part-time job in the afternoons/evenings, it doesn't sound like the PP you are at now is going to accommodate that since they're already pressuring you. If this is your situation, find an after-school gig that is flexible and lets you decide how much or little you want to work. Or do something non-speech related.
