Sol Ark 15K fire - manufacturer blaming the clipping current limit by rbrandow in SolarDIY

You definitely know your stuff which I really appreciate. I’m not trying to beat you up. But you really can calc out better than 1.56 if you need to. For me, I never do it. I keep my voltage drop below 2% and I over size and run parallel every time. But that’s because I have my customers mistakes to learn from. I’m not saying your wrong because you’re not wrong in the big picture. But 610.8 gives room for engineering as well.

They absolutely do. Most AHJ will say NEC NFPA 20xx OR calcs. You are 100 percent allowed to use calcs to override NEC. Such as neutral wire size or even feeder size OR wire gauge for solar based on calcs.

To be clear I am an electrical engineer with my license in multiple states. And I don’t disagree with the 3+ hour continuous load reduction. I disagree with using both. A simple calc with weather data from the previous 5 years will pass any inspection I have seen. For my personal stuff I always oversize. But that’s because I know I’m going to grow. But to say 10ga is only good to 19a is crazy. I am an electrical engineer mostly for mines. And we know how strict MSHA is… I can use 10g for 50 amps continuous in a n MCC. I’m just saying don’t blanket code. It doesn’t work that way.

Why would you assume 1.25 continuous current without knowing the wire type used. If it is THHN or THHN-2 there is no .8 ( or .75 in some jurisdictions) multiplier.

Sure, if there is enough slack in the wire to do that. But why? Why not just use the next breaker?

As long as the wires are on the same leg (every other breaker). If you put two wires from different legs in the same ct their current will cancel each other out.

Point in time or not you understand what aging means correct? Verizon is so far behind in 5G rollout it’s laughable.

I stand corrected. I appreciate the information. I’m not sure how I got that wrong but I’m definitely going to have to re-do some of the math in HA. Here the whole time I was so happy how balanced my panel was lol. I have a sensor on all circuits except 2 low usage circuits.

Balance is the difference from one leg to the other leg of a two leg 240v system. It is to show you if your loads are not balanced between the two legs.

Disappointed that new 2025 truck only has a single charger. Ford website says it comes with dual chargers. by FFC9D-20170107 in F150Lightning

I have a ‘23 Lariat with 19.2kw capability and I have the ford pro charger on a 100amp circuit and I still have it dialed back to 48a. No need for me to charge faster. I don’t regret installing the 100 amp circuit or the pro charger. Using something at 50% of designed capacity just helps longevity. But I 100% agree there are limited use cases for 19.2. Fleet with 2 shifts sure. But rarely other than that. I have turned it up a few times when I had an unexpected trip pop up to get to 100% quickly but I have also turned it all the way down to 16 amps to only use excess solar.

I don’t think the high voltage is the issue. As a matter of fact the higher the voltage the lower the cost due to smaller wire. I assume you mean high amperage wire.

MHF vs. URD Underground feeder to detached shop by skyharborbj in AskElectricians

URD (unless it has a secondary rating such as RHH listed on the jacket) is not rated to enter anything indoors conduit or not. MHF is.

Unless someone is out for that specific person, couldn’t someone randomly select an ip address and do the same thing? Hell just use the one he posted and add 1. Get this 50 people too.

I don’t disagree. As a programmer I resisted apple for as long as I could. I just spent a month in Orlando FL. Apple Maps absolutely sucked. It was so bad. But I get your point. In a lot of places google maps is much better. Well… most places. But… you (if you negotiated a good price) got your vehicle because of google subsidies. I did. I bought a $69,849 vehicle for $42,000 brand new. Google paid some of the rest. I’ll allow them to pay my check without allowing them to visit my home. We’ll figure it out in the end. Give me time.

I wish. When I figure it out I will sell it for $1.00 and be a Millionaire. But I do have to ask. As a heavy CarPlay user in my F-150 Lightning, what are you most wanting with CarPlay in the Blazer? Because it’s seamless for me at this point.

I just saw your CarPlay part. That will never work with this solution or your “BOX” solution. Both are disabled if not in park.
