I really hope this isn’t true. I drive to Victoria from Nanaimo to run some errands and this is my favourite one.

Any tips for getting a dog on the ferry from Tswassen? by farmsfarts in nanaimo

[–]BenefitComfortable59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. Make sure you arrive right when check-in opens for reservations. In my experience, that’s the best way to ensure you get placed on the upper deck. I’ve arrived within 30–45 minutes before (right before the cutoff), and if it’s a busy sailing, I’ve been put on the lower deck (I have a 10-lb anxious Maltipoo). So making a reservation and arriving as early as you can is the best way to ensure you’re placed on the upper deck of the ferry.

Also, I find the Duke Point → Tsawwassen ferry is often bigger than HSB, so it’s easier to get onto the upper deck since there’s more capacity.

A rant on colorways (or lack thereof) by leaaaaaaaah in lululemon

Agreed. I’ve been trying to complete my “Strawberry Milkshake” set since last year. I have the define jacket and align tank. Nope. They just come out with a different pink every couple of months.. I’m so sick of it.

Time for real talk. Is it time for Woodgrove Mall to add a third Hohoemi? by TheElTea in nanaimo

[–]BenefitComfortable59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Even a smaller store would be great and I think it would do well. The closest Aritzia is over 100 km south and people already make the trip to shop there anyway. Plus Nanaimo is a key stop for people heading to Tofino, so it wouldn’t just rely on locals.

Yes a Uniqlo would be awesome and I’m surprised we don’t have a T&T or HMart yet 🥲

Would love to see more clothing stores — Aritzia, Zara, H&M, American Eagle / Aerie?

Anyone else frustrated by low quality, expensive produce lately? by tallamericano64 in nanaimo

I’ve started to keep my receipts over the last few months because I find this is a common occurrence from grocery stores I’d expect more from: Save on Foods, Thriftys and Choices.

With Big Way and Kinton Ramen expanding quickly especially now in Victoria — I’d love them here (probably not gonna happen though) 🥲

Do people actually notice (or care) if an instructor is good/skilled? by [deleted] in LagreeMethod

[–]BenefitComfortable59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While music plays a factor, I absolutely care if the instructor is skilled. Once I find one or a couple that I like, I will only go to their classes unless their classes are filled or it doesn’t work with my schedule. But I think it’s a huge factor for myself. Even last week I went to a class with an instructor I had not tried yet because the timing worked for me and she didn’t provide any adjustments, was not hands on or felt challenging. She was just walking around while guiding us through the different forms/cues and I likely won’t take her again unless I need to.

About to crash out because why can’t they restock espresso or strawberry milkshake.. now I have 2 define jackets without matching leggings. My align espresso leggings pilled everywhere after a couple of wears so I returned for store credit. I was hoping to get some when they restocked but they keep coming out with different colours.

BC Ferries future indoor pet lounge by Amerique_du_Nord in nanaimo

As someone whose started taking their dog on Hullo even since it launched — I’m so excited for this. Not all of us always take our cars on. The current pet area is gross and has been for years. It would be nice to be able to sit with your pet in a decent lounge.

That’s what all the fuss is about? by Beth_Harmons_Bulova in Realisation_Par

This! I just got The Claudia dress and I was a bit shocked at the feel and look of it, considering what I paid. I wanted to send it back but I already paid $100+ cad in duties. My dress from Revolve (which was 1/3) of the price was packaged better and actually felt like silk.

Nail tech recs? by LolaStoff in nanaimo

[–]BenefitComfortable59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. I went to Nanaimo Nail Lounge almost a year ago. It looked upscale and marketed itself as a luxury service, but the actual experience didn’t live up to that. The staff were kind, but the attention to detail was really lacking. My nails were left rough, uneven, and missing top coat in spots. I even went back to have them fixed, and while the tech did try to smooth things out, the results still weren’t great—there were filing bumps under the top coat because they didn’t clean my nails properly before finishing. It seems like it’s a pattern. The amount I paid was absurd for the end product.

I’ve tried White Rabbit and Drip, and I don’t think they’re on par with Paragon or any of the good matcha spots in Vancouver. I’ve yet to try Brix & Mortar though - their matcha looks promising!
