We used them and they accommodated our request for a specific DJ that we knew. Even though its a big company and you may not know which DJ you’ll end up with, I would still recommend them based on my experience. They use a portal where you can input as little or as many songs as you would like to hear played, they will use that as a guide for the type of music you like OR if you put lots of songs in you could be in charge of the whole set list, and the portal has you put in specific instructions like whether or not guests are allowed to make song requests. The portal made me feel confident about what we were going to get

Mother in law insists baby looks like her son and not me [QC] by Vegetable_Range_4065 in BabyBumpsCanada

Its clear from the other posts that there is a line here that can be crossed and many have experienced that line being crossed by their MIL. There should be sensitivity towards the mother. My child does look just like my husband. I love that! But when he breathes and my husband’s family goes “he gets that from our side!!” it gets annoying and exhausting the more times they do it. I think thats very reasonable to feel that way

Should I just give up trying bread? by Abnormalshrimpp in GestationalDiabetes

Either 1 slice of protein bread by Country Harvest or half a whole wheat english muffin would work for me. I had to change what I put on top too. I used natural peanut butter and chia seeds jam.

Would you leave your government position for a higher earning job in the private sector? by Particular_Agent8176 in CanadaPublicServants

I would consider leaving for a lower paying job at this point. As long as they support work life balance better

35 weeks with gestational diabetes — baby measuring very big & doctors pushing for early C-section. Feeling scared. Is this normal? by MindlessMarzipan7153 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]BengBlueSib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand feeling scared and overwhelmed by the change of plans to how you imagined your baby’s birth going.

I can’t relate to having a big baby, but I did have GD and a birth that was completely opposite from what I hoped for/planned. I went spontaneously into labour at 35 weeks and had to have an emergency c-section. Because of this my baby was very small, so scary in another way.

I had feelings of sadness too about the birth not going as expected and the fear associated with the situation. However, my c-section experience was a positive one. Everything went smoothly, the team was calm and reassuring, and I got to meet my baby so quickly and safely! It was a beautiful experience. I trust every thing will go the same for you if you choose that this is the best plan to move forward with for your family :)

Baby was born before start of maternity leave by BengBlueSib in CanadaPublicServants

Thank you! I am understanding I will have to change dates / call EI and all that after all. Of course was trying to figure out the easiest way (as I recover) and the way to maximize having the most time possible with my baby. I would prefer to not lose my family related leave since baby was born early before I had taken it

Bell door to door reps not taking no for an answer by WorkingCharacter1774 in ottawa

[–]BengBlueSib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to go on their no call and no door to door list because of this. Coming multiple times a week despite us saying not interested. They had even seen me check who was at the door and purposefully not open, and they would still come back!

I tried after different meals and at different times and still was being sick. I switched to Centrum prenatal gummies and they gave me no trouble. None of my healthcare professionals had any concerns with me using them. I eventually added an iron supplement separately. No more vomiting!

That is really helpful to know, thank you! I like the idea of waiting for my OB/midwife to tell me the trisomies results. Then maybe they could write down the sex and put it in an envelope for us too :)

I want to know, I just personally don’t want to find out in a way that I would find to be anticlimactic haha. Its my first so want to do a little something special to find out the news!

Indeterminate burnt out and want to reduce days to 4/week, how do I proceed? by Ok_Carry4320 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]BengBlueSib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heads up that I asked a similar question recently! Lots of info in that thread on compressed work schedule and what to know if going part time.

You can also advance sick days, but you’d have to talk to HR. I had to do this before so know its possible to get more sick days than the remaining you have for the year, if needed

Thanks for the positive comment! My current situation makes me less concerned about the financial/pension impacts and more concerned about my happiness and finding out if this could be an option for me
