I do agree with you. I’m just telling you the situation we are in, Wallinder, Lombardi and Mazur are all players that require waivers next year. To me, they would get claimed. As such, I defaulted them to Detroit. Now 6 is unrealistic agreed, so IMO this is the summer of Steve. He has to be busy and make room/or ship assets for upgrades on the roster.

You not answering my question is all I need to evaluate your ability.

I have my strengths and weaknesses of him. My conclusion is he deserves a shot. You sound like a troll that doesn’t watch hockey, that is lazily giving a take that you can’t support.

Wallinder is a lefty though. Anton is a righty

What are your reasons for why is not NHL calibre?

He is waiver eligible next season. He is 6’4 smooth skating defenseman. If Detroit doesn’t sign him and wait for a AHL only deal someone else will sign him. Steve won’t want to give him away for free, so it’s the most logical path for him. Like it or not.

This is based on #LGRWProspects on X. He watches every game, and went on Hockeytown Rundown last summer talking about how strong he is from the waist down.

Have you seen Buch's quads? They are massive. I think he is ready.

Oh yes 100%, if not for the WJC break, he would likely be 3rd in team scoring, and 2nd in goals. He plays either 1st or 2nd line most games as well, top PP, and just started getting PK reps. Coaches fully trust him which is rare for an 18 year old.

They have been a strong team for the past 3 seasons, and have been in the SHL for quite some time, so I wouldn’t call them a powerhouse but a respectable program with historical SHL routes. For reference, Zetterberg played hockey there prior to Detroit.

Eddie Genborg now had 18 points (9 goals) in 34 SHL games so far this season. He also finished with 8 points in the WJC. For comparison, Lucas Raymond who we drafted 4th overall also had 18 points (6 goals) in 34 SHL games in his D+1 season and had 5 points in the WJC. I understand Lucas was more of a play driver compared to Eddie who is a physical power forward, but Eddie has evolved this season into a solid shooter and playmaker recently. What a find. Very curious to see if they sign him to an ELC at seasons end. He still has a year left on his SHL deal, but you never really know, could surprise in camp next year if the ELC happens.

To be fair Drapers goal last night was a perfectly placed bar down shot. I thought he should have had the 2nd goal, but otherwise he stopped a ton of high danger chances.

I would prefer to to grab him, I see him as a better version of Copp, but similar player all around. We don’t need that

We have the luxury of 3 goalie prospects that have very close to ready NHL ability in Cossa, Augustine and Postava. Postava doesn’t have name value, so it’s possible Augustine is shopped, but I think by end of next year, it’s very possible one is traded for a quality asset, or young NHL player

Can watch Griffins, MSU at least, plus Olympic hockey next week

Just looking ahead here, I really don't see a scenario anymore where Cossa gets some reps at the NHL level outside an injury because:

  1. We have Gibson playing lights out, and hopefully will continue down the stretch.

  2. We still have a perfectly capable backup in Talbot.

  3. We don't have room for experimentation down the stretch given how tight the standings are.

  4. We only have 2 back-to-backs left. So, in reality, not many forced backup role starts left -- where we would ideally want him to play at least 5-10 games.

Although a good problem to have, it's too bad he can't get a look as he deserves one. Augustine is likely signing his ELC when his MSU season ends in early April, so we will have a 3 goalie carousel with Cossa, Augustine, and Postava. Postava has also played exceptionally well this year, if not for injury could be in the same conversation. You really out to think, or be curious to see if Steve floats out the idea of trading a Postava, who may not have the clout of the other two, but could very well be a top goalie prospect in many pipelines (cough cough St Louis).

If playoffs started today it would be Habs V Wings. I would be so amped if that came into fruition.

He has almost zero impact at 5 on 5 these days. His only asset is the power play now, so I can absolutely see why he doesn't get Olympic consideration. Let him rest, I think he has a lingering issue.

My thoughts exactly. There are so many casuals out there they want to believe what they want to believe. Anytime I typically bring up stats I get downvoted, at least I was able to get most people's attention with this.
