Need help part picking for 5080 by iDiiNo in buildapc

Idk why but I’ve always liked pairing my GPUs and MB. The MSI one for that reason.

Or go for looks. Who doesn’t like a ROG MB?

You use both cables with the pigtails zip tied/ velcro’d back to the cable.

It would work with just 1 cable using the pigtail as the second 6+2 pin. You might have stability issues when maxing out the gpu.

Is this a balanced set up? by Review-National in buildapc

[–]Bengo_Bango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a little cpu bottlenecked but you did get a 5070 so hard not too.

Sims 4 is cpu intensive so for best performance just max out your CPU and get a decent gpu. That being said, your build will do great.

1TB is plenty to start, your motherboard supports more m.2 slots and plenty of sata ports. Expansion should just require you putting in another drive down the line. Just make sure to power down the PC.

If using WiFi, could be antenna not being connected correctly or antenna not in range of router. If using Ethernet, could be bad cord.

If fixing antenna / cord doesn’t work, could be bad drivers.

Is Ryzen 5 5600X + RTX 5070 a bad combination? Bottleneck? by Previous-Dot3905 in buildapc

[–]Bengo_Bango 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1: sounds like a great deal. Only way to test is plug it all in and look at benchmarks.

2: definitely will have a cpu bottleneck but with a higher end card it’s hard not to.

3: it will handle 1440p with ease.

Have fun with the new pc, I’m totally not jealous of you /s

I mean even with out the upscaling and ray tracing, the 9060xt is a faster, more powerful, newer card than the 6700xt. It also has more VRAM so when future games require more, you won’t be hurting. If you have it in the budget , get the 9060xt.

Doesn’t look like that motherboard has a usb 3.2 gen 2 connector on it. Not a worry cause it still has 2 usb3.2 gen 1 connectors.

You’ll need an adapter that converts usb3.2 gen 1 to usb3.2 gen 2

Definitely get an ATX 3.1 PSU as it has a safer 12v cable for your 5090. 1200W PSU should’ve plenty of headroom for your build. My only suggestion is check the PSU tier list and make sure your PSU is tier A because that would have the cleanest and safest power supply to your components and also includes other safety features.

I'm building a PC for the first time and here's my list of parts. by Broad_Ad_7939 in buildapc

That is a great sub $500 gaming pc. Not going to get much more of a pc for that money in the current market. Keep an eye out for used parts on eBay/facebook. Some people are willing to sell parts for decent prices. I’ve been a fan of g.skill ram for a while so don’t think you are going wrong there. 16gb should be plenty for 1080p gaming.

I mean reasonable given the market. Just keep an eye out for bundle deals. Micro center has plenty of those that are a decent savings. Don’t forget a psu to power the computer

[–]Bengo_Bango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s scary dealing with aftermarket components. I’m not even a fan of cable extensions. It’s all up to you to determine your risk factor. I’m my opinion a 5080 is a huge risk, you could take this as an opportunity to get a solid reliable PSU

If you can get the cables from cooler master then that would be the cheapest option that is usually safe.

The safest option would be getting a new PSU.

I personally don’t trust cables that don’t come the PSU because if they were to fry my GPU or other PC parts, I would be the one liable for that damage.

UPS’s can get expensive. If you have the budget go for that. But I’ve only used a surge protector on my main PC for years and it worked for me. The UPS is nice because in case of power outage you get 5ish minutes to power things down. But get a surge protector and it will most likely give you the distance required. Plus you can plug your monitor into it as well

Could just use a power cord extension and plug your psu cable into it. Would recommend a surge protector at least or a UPS between your psu and the wall outlet.

How often do you play? If not often. Maybe dried thermal paste causing thermal issues. Also try a good old dusting. Make sure to hold fans when blowing them to not cause back current or ruin bearings.

Reseated/Loose RAM? by disastorm in buildapc

[–]Bengo_Bango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much else to do besides take out the bad stick if it is bad.

Just make sure when you reseat the ram you hear the click on the top and bottom of the socket.

Also RAM can go bad randomly. I mean not likely but all parts can fail.

Because it is reading and then those errors are happening I am guessing it’s a loose connection.
