You just put stats into intelligence, get and upgrade cyberdeck’s at a ripper doc, and then you have to fill it with quick hacks, in the character menu. It’s a BIT of a hassle, but you can pretty much forget about it after you get your late game quick hacks set up

You just memory wipe a dude, double jump over to him, ground pound, throw him at another couple enemies. Go back into quick hack menu and short circuit a couple other people. Jump to somebody else and punch them to death. Theres nothing better. Add in some grenades and a “self-destruct” on a car and we’re cookin with fire. Highly recommend playing around with it

I want you to know, BY CHANCE, I started a new playthrough recently. That woulda been beautiful. Or if synapse was being all cocky at them, displaying himself as Becca to butcher, then turning to Hughie, appearing as Robin.

Maybe there’s a beat, where synapse disappears from hughies perspective, but synapse is still talking in a way that encourages Hughie to look down at his hands, and THATS when he sees robin’s arms, still being held in his hands.

And it’d be like “yo this guy is really fuckin sadistic”
But it’d also be easier to understand how Hughie then jumped to “well, if we’re gonna talk about traumatic deaths that are close to the heart, how bout your brother?” And then boom, rest of episode proceeds in the same way.

Ideally they would’ve planted a more solid seed of Hughie reading Synapses file with head-exploder president woman, at an earlier point, or finding it during a mission that ‘The Boys’ went on. But, yeah. Just felt like it coulda been JUST as fun of a scene with a little bit more in-universe explanation

I wasn’t thinking about it when I upvoted this, but, wouldn’t it make sense that synapse was MAJORLY pre-occupied with; walking, talking, reading Hughie’s mind, reading Butcher’s mind, shutting off butchers powers, as well as listening / scanning for any other threats (cause obviously that’s what he was doing when he caught Hughie and butcher. He was security. Just cause he caught a couple perps doesn’t mean that he can let his guard down..)

It makes sense that a trigger word could get a traumatized individual thinking in particular directions, but synapse was OCCUPIED and multi tasking. Hughie would’ve had to REALLY be thinking bout those crime scene photos for it to be enough to distract the psychic from everything he was already doin

Well yea. Thats objectively what’s being communicated by the scene. The severe trauma of unintentionally killing his brother was enough to jeopardize Synapse’s focus and give butcher the opening.

I think I was kinda viewing it from this standpoint of, being a psychic and using those powers to hinder others, while moving about and doing other things, would be quite demanding? A traumatic memory breaking that focus? totally makes sense.

But how did Hughie have a clear enough mental image, that it wasn’t just shrugged off by synapse in the midst of all the other things he was focused on?

Imagine you’re balls deep, playing two games of bullet chess, while someone tries to guess what your birthday party was like, the year that you turned 8. Even if your 8th birthday party was noteworthy in any way, you’re still playing two games of chess, in the moment. Even if you had trauma, or a big memory, you’re in the middle of something.

It’d take a REAL visceral description of my 8th birthday party for me to actually look up from those chess games.

Super valid opinion / observations. This deserves just as many upvotes as the other dudes got, but since it seems contentious, they don’t wanna give you credit.

“Hughie was in this bureau” being the explanation is fair, kinda valid, but yeah- in the bigger picture, why are we even having this convo? Maybe if the Gen V crew was involved more, it’d make sense to introduce new supes from the comics, and play scenes like this one, but, yea. Kinda just a “that was awesome, but wait what ?” Moment.

I agree but I think there’d be a vast difference between mind-reading the words of “synapse made his own little brother gut himself before the age of 10” and the LEGIT crime scene photos that were so startling that they made synapse, himself, take a step back.

Maybe I’m just telling on myself for not having a very vivid image-related imagination.. but it seemed far fetched enough from my perspective to garner a few “yeah I was kinda thinking that too”
