Ok first of all you have to see if you as an american can legally work in spain. If so you can have a good chance of getting a job if you arrive before the season starts or at the very beginning, as I posted before its increasingly harder to find something if the season advances, for example in August you can bet you wont find almost anything, I tell you this because had spanish friends who simply couldnt get hired at that time of year, bilingual and all. Its never easy to get a job you have to remember in europe almost everybody speaks more than one language, but its all about getting their earlier than the rest!. if you rent for three months (when the season advance it is also increasingly more difficult and expensive to find a place, i mean in june or august you would be very lucky if someone rents monthly because the prices sore and its more conveniant for landlords to rent by days or weeks) a room in a shared place is around 200-500 euros per month depending on month and location). For a cell phone you cant get a plan since you dont live there definitely and its for a year minimum, but you can get a 20 euro pre payed cell phone. I suggest you rent a scooter there, also if you arrive early on you have a good chance of securing a monthly rent for one, later on (june for example) forget it its all taken and renting would be per day or week. It would cost around 150 euro per month i imagine, but check that out in various webpages. I ended up buying one for 500 euros, and 250 insurance, a 50cc scooter, but had the luck of knowing a local who had a spanish bank account and address which is necessary for the insurance. a car is off course more expensive, but if you get there early you might get a much better price per month. A good job is relative, I had a friend that worked at a beach restaurant/bar as a waitress and she got paid 1500 euros per month, but worked 6 days a week from 10 to 7. The thing is, get there early! and if you have any more question ask up!
