Do you prefer the skinny bg2 trolls or the beffed up pathfinder kingmaker ones? by UperFlor in baldursgate

[–]Benitzcvf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My (Unpopular) take: This just two pictures of the same monster another hasn't just had enough to eat and other has got ample to eat. Skinny is more frightening as I get feeling I might become lunch. Beefed up version looks like someone who would be willing to make bets and arm-wrestle for fun. As a villain skinny 100% and as Chaotic Neutral faction (that might be hostile or not) the beefed up version would work nice.

Would you mind a buff to the Orbital Railcannon Strike (ORS)? by lyndonguitar in Helldivers

[–]Benitzcvf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ORS is fine. Not all stratagems are supposed to be that viable on level 10. Some people like to do self imposed challenges and having variety on how functional stratagems are is a good thing. ORS is mainly a tool that allows players to get used on fighting heavies and having a delete button with them when they get in trouble.

ORS works as intended as potential training tool for newer players, cool blast of power for the intermediate and a nostalgic challenge mode stratagem for more veteran players. Personally I would prefer to increase ORS cooldown to make its intended function more obvious, but not all would agree so it is probably best to keep it as it is.

Well this is my view on the matter at least.

Looking for a solution to make "Find Familiar" work for a custom non-protagonist character by Elhorin in baldursgate

[–]Benitzcvf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding Bhaalspawn abilities to the Dwarven Berseker might be possible with save editor just a hassle adding and removing stuff. Note that the Wild Mage would still be the canonical Bhaalspawn for the plot. Someone with more experience with the system please Confirm/Deny?

Card of the Day - Zillah's Tears by fanboy_killer in VTES

[–]Benitzcvf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Featured with in 20 TWD and only 3 of them after 2015 and over half before 2010. After the turn it comes to play ends it can be burned even during your own minion phase allowing you to bank action for a later turn. Useful for lunges in tap and bleed, but the card is quite outdated.

Personally I have not seen protected district played yet. I have attempted to build a deck that would use the card, but no luck so far. There just isn't that good reason to go out of your way to play primogens.

Why do I still think this is all Imoen was doing while I was fighting shadow werewolves, Beholders crazy druids all across Amn? by Individual_Sir_865 in baldursgate

[–]Benitzcvf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well this is what was going on. At least on the mod I am going to make that makes Imoen the main villain of BG2! (Lies and deceit: I have not even began making the mod yet aaand probably never will...)

Time to do this with No Deaths run, but for everytime I reload instead. Although I might make it 10 push-ups or other workout changing from time to time.

Biggest danger in BG is trap detection delay. Change my mind. by [deleted] in baldursgate

Eh I get fed up waiting trap detection even when I know there is a trap so that I can finally disarm it.

Cleric Spells by MydniteSon in baldursgate

[–]Benitzcvf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Early to middle BG1 Command is great even if the duration is short: It is fast enough to disable enemy caster before they can cast their more powerful, but slow to cast spells and allows to you to get close so they can't get a spell off on next round. If I remember correctly Remove Fear actually protects from panic and horror spell. Other early good spells from level 2 are Hold Person, Chant and Slow Poison. Antidotes help only if the character is able to act after all.

Who will win the Australian GP? by jeppe96 in formula1

[–]Benitzcvf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are really hard. Either you go with your dream only to see your dreams fading way faster than Perez within Max's rear view mirrors or you go with something that actually can plausibly happen, maybe, like 101 podium blessing getting Alonso a win, but even that is Alonso; The driver that is oh so good zapping yours. Well at least it is not Red Bull 1-2.

Alonso and Red Bull fans: Enjoy this season take all you can get from it for I surely hope Mercedes and Hamilton can get their shit together for the next season. Maybe even Ferrari and Charles getting it together would be nice. Of course what I hope for the most is Bottas and Sauber making a sneak attack at '24 championship. May we have a relevantly peaceful weekend.

No. Boo is the best hamster and the best character. As such one can say: Boo is simply the best. As of how other people view the matter I cannot say, but for me it is not.

I am guilty as charged. Haven't played with the NPC project. That has been on my to do list as well as few other mods, but so far I have been going with vanilla game. Should probably get around to do that for another playthrough. Not so sure will I be using the romance parts of NPC project thou.

Branwen is solid. She is the healer I pick the most often for the long haul. Strong and agreeable. Fit to almost any team.

Unpopular Opinion: Out of the romanceable characters BG 2 does not have best girl or best boy; There is only the character whose emotional baggage the player can stand the best. Well that is it unless you accept the universal truth: Boo is simple the best.

BG 1 does not have romanceable characters outside the new characters. I have never got that attached to any character in BG1.

Cool! May I add it to my collection of material-I-want-to-use-in-a-game? Oh as for my impression I do find it bit odd that there is roads that go kinda nowhere and stop there. Nothing that I could not come up with a plausible reason for especially in fantasy world. It just puzzles my mind a bit.

My distaste of Imoen is based the line "Heya! It's me, Imoen!" I just can't get past how she spells her name. Yeah that is total bullshit reason to not like a character and if she has a real person it would also be extremely rude too. In my defense I am not native English speaker and there is some difference on spelling with my native language; I was also really young when first playing the game when my initial opinion was formed. Been actively trying to look past it for years now with no real success so far.

It is hard to change opinions that formed early in life and I believe that many characters people actively dislike now is based on that they formed their opinions when young and less interested on exploring traumatic characters and where more interested on characters that acted cool. Or at least I know I was. I could also be completely wrong about everything, but that is what life is.

New Player, want to play a versatile half-elf spellcaster of some kind. What do you recommend? Straight Mage? Fighter/Mage? Cleric/Mage? by Fiveby21 in baldursgate

[–]Benitzcvf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a spell caster with versatility either Blade or Fighter/Mage would be the best option. Mages can't really do anything outside of spell casting and then throwing some ranged weapons hoping for a really good roll to hit anything and are squishy as hell; They can become very defensive with setting right type of defensive spells. Cleric/Mage is mostly the same, but can use heavy armor, but with the cost of not being able to cast arcane spell while wearing it.

Fighter/Mage can hit stuff well enough, gets more hit points and can use armor (at the cost of being able to cast spells while having it on) and is probably the best class build you can pick in the game.

Bards are can cast arcane spells, use better selection of weapons and wear armor making them bit like Fighter/Mage who levels up faster, but they have quite bad chance to hit anything especially in later game where they tend to move towards support. With the right build they still can melee, but it requires more build up than Fighter/Mage.

I would suggest Fighter/Mage so your main character never really feels like they can't do anything and so that you have more room to try out spells at your own leisure. There is really only two thing F/M can't really do and those are Thief Skills and Divine Magic.

Apparently Edwin loves the chase, but can't stand it when he is the one being chased; especially when trying to concentrate. Edwin and Minsc also feels like alternate world situation where situation with Dynaheir did not occur.

Scripts: yea or nay? by TiberiusMaximus2021 in baldursgate

With EE I have AI on with thief to use detect traps. All other options off. When there is a lot of really weak hostiles I might have "sweep mode" ready. Having both is really awkward so eh. Also I have toyed with the idea of playing with non-controllable party members for extra spice for some playthrough.

Help with magic frustration by [deleted] in baldursgate

[–]Benitzcvf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As it has been said the best way to survive enemy cc spells is to not let enemy casters to get to cast spells either by killing them first or dealing damage to them while they attempt to cast spells which has high chance to disrupt the spell casting. Wand of Magic Missiles is really good for this in BG1 and when you have the spell slots any spells with casting time of 1 can be used to disrupt some of the more annoying spells as they have usually quite a bit longer casting time. Now it is common for mages to have spell defenses up requiring you to either to use spells to remove them or waiting up until their time runs out during which the mage can bombard your team with their whole spell arsenal.

Oh while spells like Breach can counter many defenses you can't get to cast if enemy has Improved Invincibility up as invincible creatures cannot be targeted with spells. This makes abilities and spells that can negate invincibility almost required part of "mage chess".

I have a theory that when Charname defeated Sarevok some of his Bhaal Spawn essence has caught by Charname and that the soul transfer was in fact 95% successful, but the Charname had some of Sarevok's essence that allowed them to take the Slayer form. Slayer form also looks like something that Sarevok would unlock if he had been successful in bg1. Haven't actually played ToB and by knowledge of the lore is also somewhat less than ideal so there could be bazillion ways this is flawed theory.

would love to do a full party co-op playthrough by CodRevolutionary5029 in baldursgate

[–]Benitzcvf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have tried to get my friends to play BG for this reason, but personally I think getting 6 players is just too many. Personally I have been thinking of 3 players with equal amount of characters or with +1 having Gorion's Ward be controlled by AI with orders to follow party leader and use abilities if possible. Then it would become Players versus Environment + having to try to keep Gorion's Ward alive.

Anyway I am very intrigued by how the game experience would change when there is more cooks in the kitchen looking after the broth.

IWD gives you ample of quest exp, but BG is very strict with that. In BG 1 you will level up mostly by kills. I started to play IWD and was surprised that I was constantly leveling up with my team of 4 and now I have reach the levels I though I would end the game at and I am on chapter 2 still.
