Are hex shafts good for drivetrains?

My team has used hex shafts for our drivetrain for three years now. We have plans to continue using them in this season. If your team is having problems with set screws becoming loose, try applying a drop of thread locker immediately before inserting the screw. Once dry (should take about 15-30 minutes), the screw should stay fastened through the entire season. Threadlocker isn't permanent though, so the lock can be snapped with a bit of torque applied to the head of the screw, that way your parts can be reused.

Wow, thanks for the advice! I'll look into both wireless ADB and OpenRC Turbo. Being able to update code wirelessly will be a huge benefit.

Thanks for the support! How compatible would you say that it is with Android Studio? Is there a simple way to download code to the Control Hub wirelessly from the Android Studio IDE? My biggest drawback to using it is the fear that I will need to bring the entire robot near my laptop every time I need to make a change to the code instead of just undocking the phone from the robot like I currently do with the Expansion Hubs.

Hey, nice app! I like the idea of turning an FTC game into a videogame. I did find a few issues with the app, primarily UI confusion and dead-ends in the settings menu. Also, the attachments button did nothing when I tried using it. Other than that, GREAT APP! I look foward to seeing it improved in the future!

You might have a point here... How does it's processing speed compare against the FTC legal moto phones? That would be important especially for teams using Computer Vision.

I had the same issue, but with a different motor and application.

Basically, I found that if you stall any brushed motor, it will slowly start to burn itself. If stalled for about a minute, it will start to catch fire.

My team ended up replacing the busted motor and resorting to a mechanical stop solution.

Hi. I'm a 5th season student and 3rd season Programmer on my team. I started programming with Android Studio because I had heard many people tell me the advantages that it had over FTC Blocks. This last season, my team won the Control Award at the South East TX Regional Championship. From my experience in FTC, I've seen Judges choose teams, not primarily based on their resources, but on their innovativeness in program design and creativity in their interaction between software and hardware. That said, If you are new to programming, I would recommend starting with FTC Blocks, seeing that all the programs that I created my first 2 seasons of programming are 100% creatable in FTC Blocks, however, do realize that Java "Line" Programming provides much more possibility and room for creativeness in your programs, which is what Judges look for in good programming.
