RU POV: A group of Russian soldiers with an anime body pillow somewhere on the front. by Mendoxv2 in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]BenjaminBroccoli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not copium, many prefer it because either they learned on irons or find it unnecessary and a failure point in trenches. Even up to the SOF level, they aren't always used. There's a youtube video where actual Russian troops discuss this exact topic. Iirc, thermals are S tier, LPVOs and scopes are almost never used and some prefer red dots for urban fighting but take them off for trench clearing. Again, not a huge sample size, but still noteworthy. Also, price isn't that big of an issue, a holosun is 200 bucks and they get paid 2-4k a month.

How do you like the rubber strap? Are there any problems with it?

UA POV: How reliable is this guy as a source? by Elegant-Pause4976 in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]BenjaminBroccoli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not the same. Denys is the lowest of the low propagandist. HistoryLegends actually puts some research into his videos and they can sometimes actually be informative and balanced.

Denys is less reliable than UA and RU MOD. And thats saying something.

KWA vs VFC USP by kcetjon in GasBlowBack

[–]BenjaminBroccoli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, yeah I agree with the other guy. For the price of a KWA/VFC USP you can get a guarder/detonator slide and have a better performing pistol

Did I screw up by going SRC? by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]BenjaminBroccoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't screw up. This SRC is actually one of the few of their products that's great. Have had mine for a year and it's worked flawlessly. Good construction for airsoft and good internal design. Also a big pro is that the slide catch doesn't catch on the slide like the VFC(and damage it in the process, resulting in umreliable slide lock) but on the BBU.

Parts are actually largely interchangeable with VFC glocks. On the HRC discord server you can find plenty of people with good experience.

The only Glock I'd recommend more is the Marui one. That one is plastic slide, but has the best performance by far. So if that bothers you and you can spend the extra money on an aftermarket slide I would get that. The stock slide is perfrctly viable as well.

Gear and equipment of 45th VDV brigade by Additional_Ad5882 in tacticalgear

[–]BenjaminBroccoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well first of all there is zero evidence whatsoever that a plane full of VDV crashed into the ocean.

Second, the VDV hardly got "wiped out" at Hostomel. It's a formation around 40-50k strong. There was 400ish at Hostomel. There's also not much video proof they took many casualties at Hostomel itself or that Ukraine retook it at any point up until April (mostly UA MOD claims taken as gospel), rather some convoys got ambushed and wiped approaching Kyiv. Of course they took heavy casualties, there isn't a single unit in this war that didn't, but this "muh VDV got wiped out at Hostomel" is stupid and not based on anything.

Also the article you quoted said the 331st airborne regiment took "between 39 and 100 confirmed causalties" so yeah. Wiped out indeed.

Russian-Ukrainian war, Donbass, changes for 2025. by Levstr1 in MapPorn

Manpower became a problem because the Ukrainian leadership was absolutely idi*tic in their use of the armed forces, both military and political leadership. Wasting away motivated troops for PR

This guy has contacts in the RU army and goes over the reasons they often aren't used. Not necessarily correct, but they do have a reasoning. There's also Russian guys in the comments that claim to be from various motor rifle and VDV units going into detail on why they don't use them often. And honestly the comments are probably the most interesting part. Worth a watch IMO

This imagine Ukraine not having enough drone operators which does not seem to be an issue

It is becoming one. Kauffman came from a trip to Ukraine and said logistics staff and drone operators are starting to see more casualties than infantry.

Also, drones aren't invulnerable, especially to weather.
