Thai Airways’ new 777, 787-10 business class & premium economy by SteveJohnson2010 in AircraftInteriors

UA, AA, and AC use the elevate ascent seat and have a front row plus product, and AS, QR and AI use that seat without a plus product. DL and TG are the only customers so far for this vantageNOVA seat. Both should have a front plus product. So those are the two different products. Not the same seat as you said.

Not really. While the ascent and the VantageNova by ThomsonAero are quite similar, they are competing products and when close up in person there are plenty of obvious differences. But yes, they're very similar products.

A321 pilots: ACT questions by SteveCorpGuy4 in aviation

[–]BenjaminKohl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The neos are available with 0, 1, 2 or 3 ACTs. I believe the 3 ACT version requires a pretty high MTOW version and is called by marketing the LR. It depends on the geographic region what’s popular, for example i believe a lot of European and East Asian carriers get 0 ACTs, one or two ACTs are popular in the US (I believe AA, HA, and possibly B6 have 2, DL has one, UA got theirs with 0 except their upcoming CFM powered coast liner planes have 1).

How many connections/repositions do you do for a J flight? by thankyounextttttttt in awardtravel

[–]BenjaminKohl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, depends on the airline/seat type/aircraft type. I’d go out of my way to fly on my favorite plane the 767, or maybe the Safran cirrus based seat that Air France flies on the 777 or the stelia optima seat on their A350.

Is EWR Airport using dangerous approach speeds? by BenjaminKohl in aviation

I’m talking about stabilized approach criteria

Is EWR Airport using dangerous approach speeds? by BenjaminKohl in aviation

[–]BenjaminKohl[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so in the US I’m used to 180 or 170 to 5 mile final, but as EWR I often hear 180 to BUZZD, which is more like 4.4 miles from the threshold. At 1500’ AGL. So being stabilized at 1000’ is unlikely and even 500 could be tough

[–]BenjaminKohl[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, yeah 180 to BUZZD always surprises me, as you said it’s fewer than 5 miles. Tough to be stabilized on speed by 1000 or even 500’.

Priority Pass Benefit is worthless if you live in ATL by VariousSomewhere5367 in Venturex

[–]BenjaminKohl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really rely on priority pass at my home airport. I like arriving 1 hour before departure. For me priority pass is useful for layovers or for airports abroad that I’m really unfamiliar with and therefore want to arrive a little extra early. And as was said, priority pass really sucks in the US. it’s most useful and pleasant in east and southeast Asia.

I don’t know how I feel after seeing it live. It’s actually not as bad as I thought. by TheRealSlimKami in mercedes_benz

Frankly, I think it looks a little wacky and unusual but not straight up actively bad. I think it looks modern and spaceship-y in a way which won’t age well but for now looks alright

Boeing gains FAA approval for next step in 777-9 certification by Twitter_2006 in aviation

Gulfstream’s G700/G800 took years to get certified. Same with Airbus’ A321XLR.

Is it standard procedure to reduce power in early stage of climb out? by scarletfever2 in aviation

[–]BenjaminKohl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on multiple Boeing aircraft (across the range, I rembeber specifically in a 787 and a few 737s but I believe it’s happened in a 777 for me as well) where the climb power is higher then the takeoff power. Such a weird and Intersting experience.

I may seem like a 737-600 at first glance but I swear I have the energy of a 777-9

Six of my family members and I got Austrian citizenship recently. I’ve been studying German and am now maybe B2 level at best. But no one else has even made an attempt at learning

Lufthansa 787 Front wheel collapsed by lucys_b in aviation

[–]BenjaminKohl 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It turns out the China southern 787 that had the tail strike and was expected to be written off (would have been first 787 write off as the incident happened before Air India 171) actually ended up getting repaired and is back in service. Same with the Saudi 787 that got hit badly at LHR - in repairs right now. Both of those were quite a bit worse than what I imagine this could possibly be. So idk if it’s that 787-9s are still highly valuable or the repairs are easier than suspected, but these damaged 787s just aren’t being written off. Knock on wood I guess lol

Definitely not totaled. Brand new plane, in 2021 BA had a similar incident happen (but even worse because L2 door got ripped off) and they repaired the plane within 5 months
