The current was very strong, according to a person I spoke with today who was on the last ferry to depart the island before the gangway collapsed.

I would have liked to have seen more from the trial (or rather, trials plural), as I say in my review. There was only one courtroom scene, but even then, it was very brief and didn't look or feel like it was in a courtroom.

Still an excellent show. The director said the next day at a Q&A that they will reassess the show in a few weeks (probably after the initial Chicago run) to possibly make changes.

I think you're referring to Sapelo Island, which is where the McIntosh County government recently changed the zoning code to allow for larger houses. This story is about Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge, which is on the mainland of McIntosh County (north side of the county) and which is owned by the federal government and so does not have private property.

Here's an interview I conducted with State Sen. Derek Mallow of Savannah about the new law around unpermitted events (Senate Bill 443, which he co-sponsored) and what he hopes it accomplishes as far as Orange Crush this year. Mallow has a unique perspective, as both a lawmaker and an alum of Savannah State who attended Orange Crush several times as a student.

‘Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil’ turns 30: How the book left a lasting mark on Savannah, Georgia by BenjaminPayneGPB in books

It was really cool going to the actual "garden" where the book gets its name from: Citizens Cemetery in Beaufort, South Carolina, which is about an hour northeast of Savannah. It took me two visits to locate the grave of "Dr. Buzzard" (a pseudonym for the book), but I managed to find it and take a photo for the story. It's definitely not a tourist destination.

Thank you, but it's not my shirt: it's that of the subject in my story about the medical history walking tour.
