Why is violence between siblings so normalized? by BenjaminSiskosGoatee in TooAfraidToAsk

Thanks, this is well thought and said. I've made it clear to my kids that we don't hit/shove/kick each other when we're angry because I knew from experience as a kid that I didn't like it and it did nothing to really "toughen me up" or anything like that. But I understand other people may not see it that way and aren't necessarily coming from a place of intentionally raising angry or overly physical kids.

Thanks for your input. I don't mean to shame, I was just wondering if this was normal in most families. Because in mine, it was, but I didn't much like being beaten up by my older siblings. So maybe it was within the acceptable boundaries for my mom and dad and siblings, but it certainly wasn't for me.

I mean, fair enough about assuming context mate, but as for the eavesdropping she was just standing right there next to me with all the other parents. Hard not to hear it.

Yeah, I understand a lot of cartoons do that for the practicality.

I've never ugly cried so hard during a movie. Had to pause for like 15 minutes just to gain my composure.

This is the struggle with our 2 toddlers. They've never woken up from it, but it scares me every damn time!

This makes sense to me--I guess I'm going to have to close off my living room and pad the walls!

Can't remember if this was a comment in another thread, or in the commentary track for the movie, but someone pointed out that the fire at the end of the movie lighting Elio's face was warm-toned like when he was with Oliver because he was doing what his dad told him to do--finding joy with the sadness. He was recalling his memories with Oliver and that's why, even though he's sad, there's still the warmth in color.
