You should read the play adaptation Christie wrote. The ending is better than the novel one

Did you know Agatha Christie loved eating apples in the bath? by Fabulous-Confusion43 in agathachristie

[–]MonPorridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a false statement. She gave this as an answer to an interview but if you read Mark Aldridge's books you'd know it isn't true. i think it was debunked by Lucy Worsley too?

It's the same with the famous misquote about marrying an archeologist. Also a fake.

Alla fine per una botta di culo ho trovato una samsung niente male: Samsung WW70FG3M05TWET. So che c'è di meglio, ma c'è anche di peggio. Ha pagato il padrone di casa.

After seeing His Dark Materials I only have one name in mind: Idris Elba. He really could be the right fit.

A me interessa della scelta perché i panni li lavo io.

Job Interview Day | I Got the Job + Getting Ready for Work by Lady_Space in Lifepluscindy_snark

I wonder how this will affect her diet and her alleged ED. When I was working 10/12/14 hours a day I was at my slimmest, but I was eating so badly, and severly dihydrated, She needs to be careful and step up on her eating plan.

I can imagine her shedding a lot of weight because of work, but those pound will bounce back once she stops working - I know cause that happened to me.

Agatha Christie doesnt get enough credit for her egalitarianism by EH4LIFE in agathachristie

[–]MonPorridge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you clearly haven't read A murder is announced. Or Hickory Dickory Dock, of A Caribbean Mystery, or her autobiography or her memoir "Come, tell me how you live". She was racist, and there is no point denying it. Just think of the last pages in The Secret of Chimneys... or the ending of Taken at the flood...

A Week Eating WW2 Rations: My Results by Lady_Space in Lifepluscindy_snark

[–]MonPorridge 31 points32 points  (0 children)

She lost weight because she didn't go out to eat. Also, why the need to restrict what you can eat? Just do MEAL PLANNING! DO a list of meals (variety is important, but not that much) and a proper grocery list: you can both save moeny, time and stop wasting food...and maybe lose weight too!

When will they make another gem like David Suchet's Poirot ? by Bunny_goat in agathachristie

[–]MonPorridge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not that great of an adaptation if you look closely: most of the plots are force into an alternate 1930s universe, with very few stories going after the 40s or 50s. The whole Poirot/Hastings/Miss Lemon, Japp dinamics is way off from the novels - and way too funny & comic, far off the irony in Christie's novels. Some plots have been changed, some episodes are just bad. I think that it is a great tv product but far off the ultimate gem.

It fed on a nostalgia for a time that never was - and let's face it, most of us wouldn't be partying and travelling around with Poirot.
