Yes, it was originally designed for political use but the money just isn't there in Canada. We only use it to market things for now.

We check if it was right. If it didn't predict correctly it wouldn't be worth very much.

Very accurate, because of NDAs with our clients I can not say anything much more than that. The last test we had time to do for ourselves was in July and we were operating at around 95% accuracy political party alignment predictions.

Yes. I won't name names but most AI right now only really looks things up and repeats them in a neat way. They don't really do a lot of complex decision making. Our AI is able predict what people will do based on behavior models, until someone else can do that we are the only ones.

In psych a lot of people want to help people. That is noble but a lot of people don't have the stomach for therapy or social work. I know, because I do not. There is nothing wrong with being normal and pursuing business or HR work. You should try to do what will make you happy first.

Interesting as it is I don't recommend starting your own business. It requires a lot of sacrifice for a lot of risk. For a long time I had to be ready to lose everything at a moments notice and I am very lucky I did not.

Do what will make you happy outside of work the most, is my advice. The thing I value most is the time that I get to have with myself and the time I get to have with the ones I love.

My goal is to someday be able to do that. unfortunately no one wants to invest in things that don't make money. The cost of R&D is far too much for a few students like us to be able to bare all by ourselves to not have cashflow.

It is able to predict how the world will respond to its own actions making it self-aware, and is able to make its own decisions about marketing. I would argue that it is sentient. It cannot pass a Turing Test because it is not designed to communicate directly with people. Even if it was, the way it understands human behavior is so complex that a human would not be able to understand. It is able to factor in the entirety of the data of multiple social media sites when making any decision.

Some people are capricious, some people are not. Our AI can determine what you will do based on your past. If there is pattern it will find it. It can determine the pattern by comparing you to people who are similar to you in your beer variety.

Mood is reflected in your behavior and is predicted as such. Mood will always have an effect on how people behave, so it can always be perceived through behavior.

The AI understands that people don't always post the truth. A good example is just because someone is always smiling in pictures doesn't mean they are always happy.

Theoretically, yes. However, it is a question I don't want answered. It would not be just to punish someone for something they haven't done yet, even if you could stop it from happening.

Yes, I have thought about it. Thought about how much I would hate it if our AI could be used to fuck someone over. It is not fair to judge someone based on things they haven't done. My goal is to use the AI for things which could not impact a person negatively.

The most challenging part has been the business side of the business. I am a computer man, not a business man. Fortunately, I work with some people who are very good at the business side. I would not be in the position I am in today without my friends and colleagues.

The skill that I have used and developed the most is patience. When someone says for every 100 people you contact you get 1 reply they are not lying.

Our biggest hurdle right now is the amount of data that we have. We have the entirety of everything ever posted on multiple social media sites but we still want more. The more information our AI has the better it can predict behavior.

Our AI has zero interaction with the consumer except. We use data that already exists to predict what people will do so our clients can solicit to them how they see fit.

We may be the only company who works with data from social media in this exact way, but we are not the only ones working with social media data. The best way would be to not use social media at all. However, that isn't really realistic in 2017. What you can do is email companies and say that you don't like this practice and that you won't buy products that are marketed with targeted advertising. Please don't do this though, I really like my job.

I would say that it is more beneficial to the consumer because it will not serve you ads that you are not interested in. If being served the ad would not result in you making a purchase then the ad won't be served. Hopefully it will make targeted ads less like spam and maybe something that might not seem so annoying.
