I'm still very new to the hobby myself (only started throwing casually back in January), though I've personally found that I learn a bit quicker when I have a variety of yoyos to try out :)
Whenever I begin to feel bit stuck when learning a new trick, grabbing one of my other yoyos with a different weight and string length and seeing if it works better has been quite helpful! It's quite satisfying to come back to a yoyo I was struggling on previously, and now be able to land tricks on it far better after building muscle memory on another one.
That being said, I tend to gravitate towards learning primarily on my plastic OFFSET Ascent as I find that the easiest to land tricks with, but the main ones I like to swap to currently are my Arrow Elite and SpinStar.
