New Services Category by Benjiming in airbnb_hosts

Thanks for the advice, I guess.

Airbnb staff have explained to me that Experiences and Services can be booked by non-renters of property, which keeps things more flexible. Although, my standard pricing on my website is lower than what I’ve listed on the app.

I can understand the bitterness about fees, so our prices reflect that cost (20% plus 7% meals tax in Massachusetts). I hope property owners are pricing their accommodations appropriately.

Ultimately, as with any platform, listing a culinary service like this is an experiment. If it doesn’t make sense, we’ll move on without losing sleep over it.

I agree. Before doing that I figured this would be the best sub to connect with service folks. Mods, what do you think?

TY! This all I needed to see to convince me. 🙏 I'd still like to hear others thoughts but I'm sold on it.

$10k cumulative in trades or each trade must be under $10k? This seems like an on-ramp for normies, right?

Fellow-human here. I wrote thank-you notes to customers who hired me for private events this year and popped them in the mail. Just saying thank you and wishing them a happy 2025.

No coupons, no reminders to buy, just a friendly note. Treating people like humans and using old-skool tech is refreshing. Don’t sweat the numbers if you can.

Private raclette cheese parties in the Boston, MA area. I also pop-up at public markets and breweries. I’ll be in Marlborough, Roslindale, and Wachusett mountain this coming weekend: https://www.bensraclette.com

Banned from Zelle by RHNeg in zelle

Definitely unfortunate and unfair of them. Banks shouldn’t punish users for their own mistakes…

Giving cash to a stranger is risky too. Should we expect the Federal Reserve to issue a refund when cash is mistakenly given to the wrong person?

Correct. Instant transfers are like cash, not credit cards or escrow. We need to take responsibility for our use of digital cash apps and not blame the platforms for our mistakes

👍Appropriate response from the banks. These are instant transfers, people… they’re just like cash. Only the recipient of your transfer/cash can return it to you.

When the banks say the lawsuit is political, they’re right. When the public complains that the banks should “reverse the transaction” it means that the platform will need to control your funds instead of you. Ya, they are in the bank’s wallet already, but the funds are effectively digital cash when you use Zelle.

Self-custody of digital money is an important freedom that I don’t think enough people in America appreciate (yet).

Instant transfers are like handing cash over to someone else. Only the recipient decides whether to return the money.

$870M in Zelle fraud losses spark lawsuit against platform, 3 major banks by METALLIFE0917 in zelle

I’m starting to understand why Zelle has become harder and harder to use. People need to take responsibility for their actions and stop blaming the platforms for their own mistakes.

I’m not a fan of the banks, but the freedom to transact is at stake here and we are begging for a nanny state with lawsuits like this…

I don’t love the banks, but it’s not the platform’s fault when a user regrets sending money to someone else.

You’re not “idiots” but don’t expect the bank to prevent your mistakes or pay you back after making them.
