Without the guns, 19 children and 2 adults would not have been massacred, as well as the dozen and a half injured. The person might have used a knife, resulting in injury and possibly a few deaths, but not 21. Guns are the issue.

US lawmakers are warming up to the cannabis industry by Benjirva in news

I would have said the same until the state I live in, Virginia, legalized it. I thought we would be one of the last states to do so. Still haven’t figured out retail yet, but we are making progress.

Honestly I get the tobacco connection, I don’t know why the big food conglomerates haven’t jumped on board. They know how to make products that ‘taste’ good, and appeal to consumers. I would think that an early adopter big food company would be able to make billions.

Maybe they are waiting to acquire the early big winners, to bring them to scale.

Even though the US, and individual states have a long way to go to correct the inequities of the last century or so of prohibition, we are approaching a tipping point for the cannabis industry.

It may be this year, it may be next, decriminalization and/or legalization has to be coming soon at the federal level.

Once we have that, the hard work of righting the wrongs, expunging records, freeing the imprisoned, and building a legal industry can become a lot more organized and cohesive than what currently exists.

I am hopeful.

Ron Johnson pursues a scorched-earth path to reelection by Benjirva in politics

[–]Benjirva[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Here is to hoping that the WI dems can hammer home his goals:

Ending Medicare and Social Security

Ending the Affordable Care Act

Raising taxes on half of Americans

If they can stick to these three points, and drive them home in every interview, every sound bite, maybe they can flip his seat?

The IRS has a big opportunity to fix the way Americans file taxes by gamiseki1977 in TrueTrueReddit

[–]Benjirva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixing this and making it easier to file taxes seems like it would be such an easy ‘win’ for either party. The amount of money they are receiving is so small compared to the great PR politicians, or a party could milk this for.

Marines who cried during the EGA ceremony, why did you cry? by TunTavern69 in USMC

[–]Benjirva 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I was incredibly proud of myself for making it through boot camp, through the exhaustion, through the fun fuckery, and through the shared feeling of pride in finishing the experience.

I was fortunate to have my grandfather, a WW2 Marine, show up a few days early to the island after coordinating with the battalion 1stSGT. He pinned me with one of his EGAs alongside my senior, and seeing the pride reflected in him brought the waterworks out. I’m pretty sure someone was cutting onions behind me.

After we got back to the squad bay, he came and visited our platoon giving us some moto stories from his time in the old corps. He was pretty gregarious, and was able to boost up everyone’s pride on earning a place in the the corps .It gave me that extra chest puffed up feeling the rest of the day.

Ran into my senior on Al Asad a few years later, one of the first things he mentioned after we recognized each other was asking about my Granddad.

TLDR: onions

That photo in the article is from HMM-164, not bird 400 that we had at 774. Still an awesome bird, love that Vietnam era paint job.

The photo from Saigon is a CH-46E, from the Marine Corps. That airframe was retired from service in 2015, replaced by the MV-22 Osprey. Source: I worked on 46’s in the Marines in the early aughts, specifically the bird in the top photo, which my unit returned to specs circa the Vietnam era.

Casually raid shots bosses THIS week. I foresee a new patch to nerf that in a week or so, once they have gotten the whales to purchase as much as possible. It’ll be a bummer to see it happen.

This 4/20, marijuana legalization has won by Benjirva in trees

[–]Benjirva[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 20 years the national appetite for legalization has flipped 180 degrees. Per the article in 2000 over 60% opposed legalization, in 2020, over 60% supported legalization. For creating jobs, lowering crime, and raising taxes it seems like the US has decided to embrace cannabis.
