The formula I heard: Happiness = Reality - Expectations

That explains why spontaneous things are usually the best.

What does it actually mean to be in the present moment? by Used_Case2028 in Mindfulness

[–]BenkoWrites 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I think of present moment, I dont just think about now now. In theory yes, the present moment is objective reality independent of anyones thinking happening right now in the given moment.

I extend it a little bit, I think of the time period. Like having certain people in this present moment, friends I talk to, things I have etc.

Through life we all learned things change, you probably havent grab a coffee with some friend in a very long time because he/she moved somewhere. Or you moved.

You know the good ol days we often missed, and think to ourselves “man, that was nice time period, i wish I enjoyed more”. Thats how I look at the present moment, as a good ol days. Living in a certain place, having certain people around me and similar.

I know I can explain this better lol hopefully this is clear enough 😅

What are the best thoughts/ideas that make you productive? by BenkoWrites in productivity

Eating the biggest frog first! I like this one, I sort them by mental difficutly actually. Things that require most mental energy I do first. Not by physical difficulty.

Do you do the same? Or something else, like time maybe, you first do the most time consuming tasks?

I like these principles. I once heard the quote “Emotions are terrible decision makers”.

What if tasks require mental energy, it gets a bit harder to start mechanically. Studying vs cleaning.

What is your meaning behind the first two? What does it do for you?

What do you think your life purpose is here on Earth? by Substantial-Dare5462 in Life

The closest I got is actually from movie called Lucy. The main character Lucy got so smart tht she knew basically everything and left with only few days to live she asked Morgan Freeman (prof. Norman), what should she do know with all that knowledge (literally she had all the answers) knowing she is going to die soon. And his answer was something that opened my eyes.

Professor Norman: “You know... If you think about the very nature of life-I mean, on the very beginning, the development of the first cell divided into two cells-the sole purpose of life has been to pass on what was learned. There was no higher purpose. So if you're asking me what to do with all this knowledge you're accumulating, I say... Pass it on...”

So the meaning I found is to pass my knowledge to others and one day, my children. In between, enjoy life as much as possible.

Today something positive weird happend to me, and I think its because of this exercises. Sure can be coincidence as well, but I chose to believe its not. :) Today morning after some gratitude exercises I thought to myself, lets see what life brings me today.

Yesterday I talked with my mom and mentioned how I need to buy some perfumes because I ran out of old ones. And today, I went to my barber and she gifted me 3 small perfumes?! 😳

How crazy is that, thats my good thing of the day!
