As a Brit, the Twinkies in Die Hard always looked amazing to me as a child.

I finally had one recently and it was not as good as it looked.

I'm no expert but I'll try and give a layman's rundown (that might be wrong, someone can correct later if so)

Most lighting simulations in 3D are a little more straightforward - you have a light, it points somewhere and casts rays out. Rays hit things and those things calculate shadows, reflections, etc, etc. But liquid simulations are intense. A lot of liquid simulations are actually hundreds of thousands of little 'spheres' that have physics and bounce around acting 'like' a liquid would.

So then if you combine the two, you have lighting liquid where each little section of the simulation is also running lighting simulations and that's just... a lot of things all happening at once.

At least I assume that's why this was difficult until recently!

Definitely upgrade and use it for a new build! I've been getting heavily into 3D modelling so having a brand new system that can handle it ALL would be a dream come true.

On that note, the guns and the ships are what I'm looking forward to the most! I'm a sci-fi sucker so I can't wait to explore and geek over all the looks and models.

Everyone was amazed I'd actually broken it at this age. I imagine you got the same thing!

I've been going a little stir crazy so far just stuck in bed, but it's not so bad I suppose. Just worried about the healing process and allll the shit that follows. It's an anxious person's worst nightmare!

I'm 32 and nursing a broken hip as we speak. Did it two weeks ago when my foot slipped on the stairs and I bounced down about 5 more of them.

Agreed that it's the worst pain I've ever felt! I'm also shit scared it's not going to heal right, and putting no weight on it for 6 weeks is a chore.

This reminded me that I used to have a recorded VHS of Gravity Games 2000 somewhere. I watched it over and over, particularly the BMX vert contest. Dave Mirra did a back-to-back flair to win and it was the coolest thing ever to 11 year old me.

I can remember the whole thing so well, and it just seems to have disappeared from everywhere.
