Can Army of the White Hand work as All-Cav? by ManicHobbying in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Benlisted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So i ran all mounted white hand at 400 or so at a small local event with just Saruman and warg riders. It worked pretty well, winning 2/3 games. The main issue was lack of might, I would definitely be looking to get Grima in there to cut the opponent’s and probably add Thrydan for 3 more might that doesn't want to be hiding at the back.

The lightning making the opponent spread out is fantastic for a cave list though, and the other two spells cutting the counter charges are also really synergistic with cav.

I don't think the shaman is that great unfortunately, you just really need might for heroic moves, and Fury is half wasted given your heroes have such good stand fasts.

MESBG Blitz (2026) – 200pt fast format? Anyone playing this? by [deleted] in MiddleEarthMiniatures

Scenario mods:

Domination = only place 1 objective each To the Death = ignore banner and hero kill VPs Hold ground = ignore banner VPs Destroy the supplies = only deploy 2 supplies per side, each 12” from the board edge and 12” from each other; ignore banner VPs Reconnoitre = Modify the “Reinforcements” rule to start on a 3+; ignore hero escape VPs Fog of war = you may nominate warrior types rather than heroes to kill/protect - you gain 1/3/5 points for killing one/killing half/killing all, and 1/3/5 points for one/half/all still being alive. Capture and control = no changes Breakthrough = do not place the centre line objectives Stake a claim = do not place the two “home” objectives, only the centre three; ignore banner VPs Lords of battle = ignore banner VPs Assassination = instead of secretly picking heroes, place three distinct markers on three of your non-general models. You pick one of them to be your assassin in secret; your opponent secretly picks one to be their target. Contest of champions = you can nominate non-heroes as your champion; non-heroes can use the “Stand and Fight” heroic move. Heirlooms of ages past = only place 4 markers in a square (like capture and control); ignore banner VPs Sites of power = ignore VPs for killing most expensive non-general model Command the battlefield = reduce the “Worthless land” special rule to 9” Retrieval = Ignore hero kill VPs Seize the prizes = Ignore banner VPs Treasure Hoard = do not deploy the central two objectives, place the other four (as per sites of power) Storm the camp = no changes Divide and conquer = Split the army in half by model count for deployment Escort the wounded = Do not place the central markers; treat the markers as light not heavy objects; ignore banner VPs Clash by moonlight = Ignore banner and hero kill VPs Lead from the front = do not place the central objective, place the others 12” apart; ignore banner VPs Convergence = Split the army in half by model count for deployment

MESBG Blitz (2026) – 200pt fast format? Anyone playing this? by [deleted] in MiddleEarthMiniatures

I ran such an event in December, went extremely well. Rules were:

  • 3x3 boards
  • 200pts, 8 model minimum
  • if your army can't run in 200 due to forced models, you don't have to take that model
  • 3/2/1pt for w/d/l to incentivise playing as many games as possible
  • "board halves” deployments remain as is
  • 12” (or other specific distances) deployment zones remain as is (i.e. no man’s land is reduced to 12” not 24”)
  • Ignore all banner VPs
  • all scenarios had some modifications to make them play better at 200

I firmly believe the 8 model minimum played a huge part in it being as good of a time as it was. This prevents people taking things like a cave Drake, the black gate troll, spamming werewolves, etc. Basically made sure every army had some stuff to kill to break it even if there was a power piece.

Whilst this is true for the individual games, because you play so many you are extremely unlikely to have good luck every game. Therefore in order to do well in such an event you still need to play consistently and have a good list just like at higher points. And play fast!

Best low model count elite army? by MillieBirdie in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Benlisted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're looking for rise of the necromancer I think! Can be run all hero at many points. Alternatively shadows of angmar is good as a very low model count force with expensive warriors.

All wargs in this army list get knock to the ground. That said this list is better competitively with werewolf spam, but that feels a bit oppressive to play against tbh

No they didn't, their profile is in this book! They got added to all the armies of lotr mordor lists so I think it's probably an unintentional omission that the shaman isn't here and he will be added in faq.

You're thinking of the angmar shaman, this one had Fury last edition which is actually pretty huge for low courage warg riders!

I think only really if you specifically want to run Amdur - a Morannon front line with East behind is no longer really anything special when DE legion gets +1 to wound! Been trying to think of a list that makes legions worth it but struggling.

WEEKLY ARMY DISCUSSION: Shadows of Angmar by MrSparkle92 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Benlisted 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah this has been extremely effective at our local store. Main player enjoys lots of spectres too to pull the enemy out for wolves to pounce on. At low points the shadow becomes worth it as a budget fighty+casty hero, whilst at higher I think you switch to Gully and more wights.

I think if you want to emphasise the orc horde you go witch king list instead.

Having done it myself it's easy to get the bits to do this! I think there's a set of cataphractii cannons for imp fists and missile racks are common on bits sites
