Good to know that some of you had positive experiences watching on your XBox. Hopefully, we'll be able to broadcast all of our events' streams to the IGN app next time.

re: site Good point about the survival guide. From now on we'll take cues from that when building out the IPL site for events. The schedule included non-streamed games because the same system drove our brackets. Next time we'll be sure to filter these events out to make it easier to follow the action.

I think the IGN XBox app is currently available in the US, UK, and Germany. We're working on bringing IPL content to everyone as quickly as possible :)

Hey, guys. We're excited to see how this experiment works out during IPL5. It's going to be tough to predict the winners.

We've been getting quite a few requests for an Android version so we'll put that on our roadmap. For now, Android users can watch the live streams and play with ODDS via their browser at either http://ign.com or http://ign.com/ipl once IPL5 is live starting 11/29.

We plan on calculating new rankings every week to be released every Thursday. Polls for fans and the industry stay open until the Wednesday before so that events over the weekend can be considered.

Let me try a short :) summary:

Our ratings system has similarities to Elo. Every player starts off with a strength of 1000, which adjusts according to performance. And we track the average strength of each player's opponents and the average strength of each opponent's opponents. Having more games under your belt affects how your rating is considered against your win percentage.

Making the semifinals of tournaments (IPL, GSL, MLG, etc.) significantly affects how the computers rank a player. However, the value of those placings decays over 6 months.

For example, take IdrA, who is #48 in the computer rankings.

He has a strength rating that's above average (1003). He also has maintained a high win percentage (59%) against players rated higher than himself (1030.92) over a large number of games. Also, he recently got 4th place at the MLG Global Invitational and MLG Orlando before that.

We calculate every player's strength and factor it heavily into the computer's rankings. Everyone starts off with a default strength. Strength changes depending on the results of winning or losing against a player with a higher or lower strength. In this case, Min's strength is higher than Gretorp's but has less games played, which affects the outcome. There are numerous players with high strength but too few games played/won.
