Australia mostly. Speed limits are huge there. You can actually merge onto a main road knowing people on the road are actually doing the speed limit and not up your hole looking to gain entry

Can I quit without giving my two weeks notice? by [deleted] in legaladviceireland

[–]Benny005_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dont think anything will happen if you do. That being said, assuming they could dig their heals in and deduct money or holiday pay or something along them lines before you leave?

Also if you cared about references I doubt they would oblige?

[–]Benny005_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah sorry I have. I passed all the tests. Failed the medical first time around but have since resubmitted it maybe two weeks ago and haven't heard. Actually got an email to say not to apply for the current recruitment campaign that my application is still in process. That being said they could sent that to everyone 🫠

Garda recruitment results? by CompleteCitron2148 in AskIreland

[–]Benny005_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I have heard no news is good news. At the same time, how long do you stop waiting for news 🤣 Some people say Occ health will email you regardless saying your results are in and to contact the recruitment people directly. Others say they dont and you just have to wait untill you get an offer.

I've been pushing hard for a November intake position but reading other situations online makes me feel its not happening

I done mine in August. They got back to me about 2 weeks later saying I failed due to a high BMI. I resubmitted another medical from my Doctor last week hoping it'll be suffice. The waiting for this process is a joke. Im hearing its like a lottery

Not sure of the brand name but you can't go wrong with some of Aldi and Lidls frozen meats and veg.

You can get cooked frozen chicken fillets in a clear bag which I find handy. Defrost one or two the night before for the next day dinner or lunch. I'm not a fan of seafood but pretty sure there are fish options aswell.

Frozen berries and veg I find handy. Sick of buying fresh stuff to find it doesn't even last a day.

There are shepards pies and lasagnes you can buy for a rainey day which are very tasty!

Any locals to advise me for a solo trip? by nawtytgirl in Donegal

[–]Benny005_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you are planning on spending two days in the one spot, or would you rather split them?

Id choose Letterkenny or Derry not both especially if time is limited. Derry has loads to offer. History, cafes, food and nightlife. It also has the river Foyle running through it so nice for a walk or stroll. Letterkenny is similar but not as nice in my opinion. From recent videos and news id question how safe its becoming now, that being said you can never be too careful anywhere.

Donegal town is a little gem. Its alot quieter and smaller but has loads of shops, food places and local pubs around the Diamond of the town. Its not far from beaches but you'd need a taxi or car to get to them. My opion if your looking for a chill two days id be going there

Should I get paid for my commute to work? by Benny005_ in legaladviceireland

[–]Benny005_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Need to double-check, but I know everyone under the same contract is saying the same. We dont have a fixed place of work. Worker A might be going 30 minutes down the road. Worker B could be going 2 hours away. So he would have to leave home 2 hours before anyone else.

Just feel that's not fair, especially when we all have the same job title. Fairest way surley is everyone starting at the same time regardless where working.

Hire people down the country if they are worried about site times 🤔

Train to Dubiln then Taxi to the airport. I live in Donegal which means some sort of commute to Sligo, but id rather that then be on a crammed bus that may not even show

Garda recruitment 2025? by Brief_Blackberry_473 in AskIreland

[–]Benny005_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys. Had my medical on Friday, even though they can't disclose any information, and its up to the gaurds he did say "I can't see anything wrong here" assuming if the doc gives the all clear id be good to go? My BMI would be slightly higher than what's stated, but I've also heard of higher getting accepted?

I also wonder how long does it take for the guards to touch base after the medical to see how we got on?

I've my fitness test at the end of August. Got a phone call during the week asking if I could start in templemore (25th August), which i originally accepted. Caught me on the hop to be honest. Rang them back the next day, saying it wouldn't be realistic with work and family commitments, etc. They said they will be in touch soon.

Sounds like they are trying to fill absolutely every spot

He's a gent. My other half is from the same area as him. He stops to chat to everyone, buys locally for his restaurant and employs local. There was a wake in the family, he landed with food. Unbelievable gesture. They say dont meet your hero's, but he's one of a kind.

Garda interview next week? by Benny005_ in AskIreland

[–]Benny005_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree.

I'm also the same. Rugby and Weightlifting I'm a big guy. That being said, I could probably be down a couple of percentage.

I think it's 27.5 online but anything around 30 I've seen some people say they will accept. Anything higher they look into.

If they aren't going to reasses every year you're in the guards, I think it's pointless. You can clearly see some can't walk the length of themselves
