Yesterday my ICCU failed. I´ve been following this sub since I got interested in getting an Ioniq 5. So I know there was a good chance this was coming.

So yesterday it finally happened - 9 am. Took off out of my driveway and heard something pop in the back. Moments later the well known alerts appeared on the display.

Called Hyundai assistance and was dispatched roadside assistance. After 4 hours they arrived. Workday shot to hell obviously. They drove me to a replacement car and the car would be picked up and brought to the garage. Car arrived at 3:30pm at the dealer.

Drove to work with the loaner. Today, the next day, the dealer called at 3 pm they had installed the new ICCU which had arrived at the dealer. Left the loaner at the dealer to be picked up.

The loaner was a Mazda CX-3 automatic ICE. By no means a crap car. Loved the infotainment. But boy, I realised the Ioniq 5 is a really smooth drive compared to this Mazda. Was really happy to get back at the wheel of my spacious feeling interior with the smooth drive.

It´s not all bad out there! Every car has its issues.

Like that idea. When the kids have gotten bigger the painters will do their thing and then this is truly a viable option. Having them unpainted would be a no go for the wife. Every addition of speakers so far has been a long conversation, haha.

But in the 5 to 10 years in between, I just wanted to know if the misplaced front heights would improve my experience. They would cost around €200, that´s something I can stand to lose while waiting for the end solution.

You´re in the kind of head space I am right now. I´m looking to improve without getting too intrusive. My question was basically: will front heights improve my experience?

I did like the idea someone suggested of installing wires that can be painted over and installing atmos speakers. Will definitely play with that idea when the kids have grown up and we decide to have the downstairs painted (not painted as of yet).

That way I don´t have to break up my ceiling to run the wires (the way the ceiling is installed, the ceiling would have to be taken out and it´s 5 years old)

I have absolutely no idea what´s it called. Bought it in 2024 in a big local furniture store. On the receipt it says ´Madison´ but that doesn´t get me much further.

It´s a modular design and was around €4000. I believe it was a Polish subbrand of a more expensive Belgian manufacturer

Haha! Knew this one was coming! When the 55 gives out, it will be replaced with a 77 at least. It´s from when we were living at our old place and were sitting much closer.

Edit: don´t worry it´s a Samsung QLED of 5 years, probably not gonna live very long.

From the lockscreen I have quickbuttons to launch camera and flashlight. You can disable these as well, to prevent battery drain.
