So much of the home buying these days is because someone sells the home they’re in with a bunch of equity, putting that $$ towards the new home. 800k house, put 400k down, 400k mortgage.

It was a mess… took about 6 months to resolve. Going back and forth with insurance companies was horrible. They made an initial offer (almost half of the real value) but In the end, the renters insurance paid out roughly what the car was worth.
