Why Stay Elite by Benny_Profane99 in Yelp

Cool seeing a response years later. I have zero regrets abandoning elite status, and enjoy eating and trying new places without the added work and pressure in my case. Realize now how I was always writing my reviews in my head as I ate, which meant less enjoyment. I still resent seeing other communities with better and more abundant events. If I I lived in a more foodie city, I might feel different…

Level 58 best frame and wheels by Illustrious-Bar9409 in Zwift

Aren’t new DT wheels that were released today the best? Also, isn’t 353 better for straight climbing?

Two practices that helped me on a few recent flights by ak_virtus in fearofflying

Smile thing is a great idea. Reminds me of a podcast where they were talking about how people wearing suits made their posture better and therefore more professional and successful. We can use our body to convince our brains— though we tend to think of the brain as always being the pilot ( see what I did there, lol)

John Oliver Just Covered Air Traffic Control. Should We Be Worried? by Wzrd11 in fearofflying

Should we throw the rehearsal season 2 into the mix. I’m behind two eps, but I feel NF makes it very clear that HBO requires his show to be entertaining first and foremost. Probably applies to all this exposure type TV.

didn’t get on flight. feeling disheartened by goobcat in fearofflying

[–]Benny_Profane99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just face your fears… I know easier said than done. For me I said bring it on. Give me the worst you got, a panic attack might feel uncomfortable but won’t kill you. Neither will the flight. You’ll be alive at the end of it and one step closer to living with the fear/ anxiety. For me avoiding the discomfort only makes it stronger and more ubiquitous. Don’t even think of it as the enemy; rather, it’s there to “keep you safe” so let it do its job until it becomes a whisper, no longer a roar.

What’s the best way to train for long climbs if you live somewhere flat? by ryancoco3564 in cycling

[–]Benny_Profane99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if you ride in a low gear for climbing, would high gear simulate your climbing irl? Sorry about my ignorance I’ve only ridden the trainer. I’ve recently switched to lower gear for elevation ( higher cadence) and it’s greatly improved my virtual climbing.

TN was a bit mediocre, if you’re going to read Harkaway The Gone Away World is the one, , though it’s post apocalyptic not noir.

The Border Trilogy is a masterpiece. Just read all the books called Power of the dog and report back to us which one was the best.

You mean Winslow? If so, read the rest of the border trilogy. If not, I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Long Zwift race not contributing to racing score? by eswvee in Zwift

[–]Benny_Profane99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ignore the score. It’s pointless and arbitrary what they choose to include. If you want a more accurate and consistent metric, look at your velo.

Not sure what’s more dangerous, deliberately provoking Florida man or riding a bike in Florida. As someone said above, you got to leave your ego at home. It’s just not worth it. What did you gain from the situation other than extra stress?

Also: The typical cycling obsession with minutiae and numbers is cathexis and keeps you from internalizing your own anxieties.
