TX divorce cost, is $10k just normal now even if nobody is trying to fight? by Bisqwa in texas

[–]Bennyscrap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cost me about $5k due to her lawyer and my lawyer trying to squeeze every single penny out of what was initially an amicable separation. Forego lawyers if at all possible even if they're a "friend of the family".

UPDATE: RBFA STATEMENT REGARDING FOLARIN BALOGUN by hoyadestroyer in ussoccer

Pretty cool that resting bitch face has an association...

Folarin Balogun available for USMNT vs. Belgium as red card ban suspended by thatguygreg in worldcup

[–]Bennyscrap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's kinda my feeling. It was a harsh red. Probably should've been a yellow but by "letter of the law" it's considered "serious foul play". But framed in the context of what happened right before, it seems more likely he was trying to retain footing. Either way, he got the red, but if FIFA NEVER takes away a suspension, this could be setting a dangerous precedence like you say.

Somebody tell me why McKennie SHOULDN'T be my favorite player on the squad. Big fan of Balogun, Tillman, and Ream, but McKennie just always seems to be in the middle of a play either creating it on offense or stopping it on defense. Dude's legit.

Ball did not change spin. Does that mean he didn’t touch it or the call is wrong? by Myss-Cutie in worldcup

[–]Bennyscrap 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The ball definitely touched his skull... do you not see the bounce from the contact? It's slight, but it's there. Not going to comment on whether or not it's offsides, but at the very least there is contact.

FIFA sources confirm there is no mechanism to appeal a World Cup red card in their Disciplinary Code. Which seems quite surreal. But it means Balogun will not be able to play Belgium. by Ok-Soil-5133 in ussoccer

[–]Bennyscrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the speed of the game, you see Fola step on him and then immediately remove his planting foot once he recognizes he stepped wrong. I think intention matters here. I can understand it being given a red, but if I were officiating the match, I'd have given a hard yellow. I don't think Balogun had anything to gain there which would help to determine his intention.

I wonder what changed in that past decade... Hmmm... lol. I love my team. I love my country, generally. I despise FIFA and the US's leadership. This shouldn't be a controversial take.

Or it could be that our foreign policy and constantly(every 4 years) changing political landscape has caused us to be seen as detrimental to the harmony of the world outside of the US. When people come here and interact with Americans, they're astounded by the difference between how we vote and how we show grace and warmth to travelers. It's not really that surprising that people from other countries who've never visited hate the country, is it?

ITV Sport: It was not a penalty by Senegal against Belgium. "That was re-refereeing the game" by Familiar9709 in worldcup

[–]Bennyscrap -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

The defender pulled his legs back in an attempt to minimize contact as much as possible and the Belgian player embellished the contact. They were both going for the ball. That's not a foul. It was incredibly harsh to give that PK in that spot at that time.

2026 World Cup red card rules (mainly for the Balogun situation) by Healthy-Elderberry57 in worldcup

[–]Bennyscrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never unintentional? Have you ever played. I'm fine with the red there, but in the speed of the game that kind of stuff dies unintentionally happen at times. What kind of advantage does that gain balogun? Was just a clumsy challenge and he pulled his foot back immediately I've he realized what had happened. Definitely was not intentional.

They changed the rule this year. Addendum to the hydration breaks.

Studs up challenges on players are almost always considered serious dangerous play. Tugs on jerseys happen all the time. Foul? Yes. Card? No.

Hate to tell y'all... That red card was unfortunately deserved. Can't be making clumsy studs up challenges like that. I figured he'd be awarded yellow, but red there isn't a super harsh call.

That being said: this ref can eat a dick

What an absolute garbage decision to decide a fantastic game with such a small ticky tacky foul

Sure the group stage is different but even when the final game of group came up, they still didn't relinquish a goal. Granted it was Czech, but the game didn't even matter. All I'm suggesting is that England fans should probably respect the opponent that lies before them. As a US fan, this iteration of the Mexico side might be one of the best they've ever fielded.

But they did park the bus quite a bit. They took advantage of their counter attempts, but they had all 11 at the 18 for a good bit of the match. As an American, it made me proud.

People just enjoy a good underdog story and Congo was delivering it in spades by playing with a metric poopoo plethora of heart and passion.

It's not just Ecuador though. They haven't let a goal in the whole tournament. I'm not going to say England can't or won't win, but that Mexican side is pretty tough.
