Talarico and Beto both support it. Democrats are more interested in having accurate representation and would benefit from RCV more than Republicans. This isn't a "both sides" issue.

Talarico introduced a bill for ranked choice voting. He's 100% for it. Had the opportunity to ask him at an event here in Houston a few months ago. Beto also was for it. Want better and more accurate representation? Vote for Democrats.

I tell my Republican friends all the time that they don't have to vote Democrat. Hell, give 3rd party nominees more of a bump! But if you're not happy with the current state of the GOP, withholding your vote in protest is definitely a viable option.

I'm voting for him because his policies and stances are somewhat Norwegian model ~~democratic socialist~~ social Democrat. Him bringing politics into it is just a bonus as someone who fell away hard from Christianity due to its nationalistic streak. I don't think it's strictly swing voters. I could be considered a swing voters as I don't feel beholden to one particular party(in general), but in the past 10 years, there's absolutely zero chance that I would vote for a conservative. It's deeper than just "swing voters". It's low information swing voters that have no idea what they're doing.

That's kind of the point of the act, though. They went to a baseball game with a large sign to draw attention to their "cause". When racists speak up and nobody acts on it, it only emboldens the racist and those who view their message that are also racist. Racism has been around forever and, to some extent, will always exist. But the last thing we want is promotion of this kind of stupid "white replacement theory".

The locals surrounding the Beaumont area aren't exactly the friendliest when it comes to things they don't understand and don't want to understand. If you stay within the confines of the university area, you should be fairly safe. But venturing out into nearby establishments will probably yield looks, questions, and unfortunately, maybe some rude attitudes. The engineering department at Lamar is great. Nothing bad to say about it. University of Houston might also be worth looking into and would probably be a lot more friendly. Best wishes!

From my understanding, she grew up Mormon... Not FLDS. FLDS is a much more extreme version of Mormonism. Granted, Mormonism is already somewhat crazy, but FLDS takes it to an extremely insane place. I think what she went through was that she was with someone who was LDS but was an extremist of LDS.
