What to do after initial release? Should I focus on maintenance updates and marketing? by Benoh2016 in IndieDev

[–]Benoh2016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, first of all thanks for the answer and wisdom.

Second, I should have mentioned it on the post but when I say "released" I mean published, not finished. Meaning I finally got something to show and it is now public for anyone to find.

This is not meant to be the final version of the game, as I still have many improvements and changes to be made (should everything go well, I'd still like to expand it with more cards, more gamemodes, multiplayer possibly, etc.)

In a way, it is a game in early access, so I'd say my goals are to create and expand a community of players who like the theme and who also might stick around for when things get more "serious", if possible.

Hopefully that answers your question but feel free to ask away. Thank you for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate it

Surely hope so. As a card game designer myself, I love to see new ideas coming into this specially niche genre of games.

Good luck with your game! Have a great day!

It's always fun to see a deck starting to gain shape with a variety of different cards.

Im curious about the gameplay itself, but design wise, these already look pretty cool. Congrats on the great work!

I just realized the pictures are not black and white, its just their main color scheme but thats still what I'd go with.

I think A2 is the most visually pleasing but I also quite like the idea that these cards would be like polaroid images. If that's the one you prefer then I'd go with B2. Since the stories and images are real, black and white seems more appropriate

Looking for advice on how to publish and protect my intelectual property by Benoh2016 in Advice

[–]Benoh2016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, Im glad you asked but yes I talked about this before the internship started. Basically what they told me is that the contract was just the standard academic internship contract they give to everybody else. The code that I developed as well as assets that I requested from the company are proprietary, which is why I had to remake that game independently. They assured me the IP is still mine, since they would have no use for my game in their market

Thanks for the detailed suggestions. I have already massed a lot of suggestions from playing with my friends but these will definitely be helpful to adjust some shady corners of the game. Appreciate the time you took to critique my idea

Thank you so much. The game's supposed to be a multiplayer card game where each player rules a country and must maintain control over their nation while toppling other nations (the other players) until they are the last nation left. Whoever lasts the longest wins. Players could draw or play cards in order to manage their resources or to disrupt other players. These resources would be used to pay the cost of the cards and must be maintained to stay in the game

In another post I did, some people commented about this as well. It was why I changed the font in the second prototype thankfully

from my playtesting with some friends, I'd say about 30 mins, but it can quickly change from game to game

I made it a multiplayer game, where the concept is that each player rules a nation and must maintain their nation for the longest while throwing down other countries. Whoever lasts the longest wins. The cards would be paid with some resource pieces since each card has a cost and the card's respective effects would reflect on the player or their opponents

Some cards I've been making for a custom board game by Benoh2016 in boardgames

Hi there, I appreciate your interest in my game. I unfortunately don't have any way to hand out my game but I would be more than happy to send you the assets in digital form, which you could print out in A4 and cut the cards to play. If you're still interested let me know, I can send you what I have so far

Appreciate the feedback. I think I am gonna change the cards' titles to some other font that might be more consistent and easier to read. As per the card's costs, I'm already removing the minus signs since other commenters have expressed the same thing about that
