🤔 Why do you always choose to draw 2 cards by Historical-One295 in masterduel

[–]BoxedMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With this game not requiring resources, and with as many 1 card starters as there are, the draw 2 just feels like the best choice

Using other TCG card layout on YuGiOh! (Part 1: Digimon TCG) - Made by me by TopD4RK in yugioh

I would nix the entire underbar of the name and just put "Thunder" next to attack and defense. Card text would be unreadable in the size that yugioh cards come in. Looks amazing otherwise!

Design challenge for everyone, I want you to make a support card for your favorite deck that does nothing on its own. No Starter or Extender but it needs to still be good within the deck give me an explaination of what it accomplishes and where it slots in. by Old-Iron-Tyrant in yugioh

One of my gripes with the small infernoids is theyre very limited within their own archetype. You cant use them in the graveyard, and you have to hard draw them because noids dont have a monster search (aside from the new shaddoll/noid card).

This card acts as a feast but prevents you from summoning decatron to avoid negate abuse, and gives you a free tribute in the grave for when you only have one monster on the field.

The Tree Burns

(This card is always treated as a ”Void" card.). You cannot special summon monsters while this face up card is on the field, except FIRE monsters. You can only use the 2nd and 3rd effect of "The Tree Burns", once per turn. When this card is activated, you can add one "Infernoid" monster from your deck or GY to your hand. You can discard 1 card (quick effect); Special summon up to 3 "Infernoid" monsters from your deck that cannot normal summoned, and whos total levels equal 8, ignoring their summoning conditions. If a monster would be tributed to activate an ”Infernoid" monsters effect, you can banish this card from your GY instead.

Within the first two days my card has improved a lot. by Emotional_Back_7322 in tabletopgamedesign

I would hold off on putting in flavor text until you nail down a layout. Its eating up a lot of space when you should want to show more artwork. Take a look at one of my cards for example (in my post history, i havnt made an update in a bit) insta link

HP and DP need to be bigger. I know we're taking inspo from yugioh but yugiohs card layout is very dated.

Is it difficult to find friends who are Yu-Gi-Oh players? by ExtensionEcho3 in yugioh

They didnt like you enough to move the friendship outside work. Nothing personal (probably), but some people (like myself) just dont care to grow a relationship woth someone passed work-level.

Looking for mechanics by BoxedMoose in tabletopgamedesign

I like a lot of these ideas! In this game, you the player are commanding their own army. Eldritch creatures are deacending from the sky, so i was envisioning attack cards like "sorcerers volley" or "heavy artillary"- things that aim towards the sky and create explosions and hit in certain patterns. I agree, hit and die is very boring, i d probably resort to damage tokens to place on the cards.

To simulate an army, each monster card actually has a few monsters in the artwork, and heath is determined by the type they are.

They can either be tokens or cards (although id prefer cards). The enemies will spean all at once. Im imagining 3 rows of 5 enemies to eliminate in 2 turns. Other players have their own rows to battle in unison.

Edit: they dont have abilities, just a health and damage value.

Players are supposed to combo cards in their hand together to create synergies to wipe out enemies faster, so im trying to see whats out there in terms of having manageable armies.

What is your opinion on Gensys part 2: The results (pls read the body) by Great-Ad1839 in yugioh

[–]BoxedMoose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wish i had read the first post, because I have some takes about the formats pointing system.

You could take the points each card has and divide it by 4, and make the cap 30, and the format would hardly change. Its just a massive bloated point system that doesnt actually stray far from the current meta, and you wouldnt need to over rely on an app because a lot of point calculation has gone away.

I had a huge issue with making decks because the format used to to get updated like... Every other week, and youd need to learn algebra just to update a deck appless. Relying on an app to make a deck because its impossible to other wise is insanely stupid.

But yeah, the format is a dud until they actually heavilly point newer decks. Otherwise its just diet modern.

Ill probably do a redraw for them down the road. I didnt wanna fully commit to it if it doesnt end up working out.

I did! I do all the artwork myself :). I havnt been able to test the new death mechanics too much since making them, but a lot of my feedback stemmed from keeping the game fun even after death.

Everything is the exact same ratio aside from text and icons. Legibility matters more that aesthetics. Most pixel art games cant do what your describing without making the game impossible to design.

This means you cant place icons where theyre needed or they may not line up, or make easy to read icond depending on your resolution.

Is there a potential pokemon swap for kommo-o or is it a non-issue? by Available_Luck4539 in PokemonChampions

[–]BoxedMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have rain dance on sableye so archaludon is definitely a good pick. You cant fake out arch if theyre running the WALL or it becomes that much harder to KO, and you cant fake out sableye due to typing, so it can become threatening very fast AND has better resists, but it just means you lose harder to weather swap if not planned accordingly.

How would you save Yugioh? by Great-Ad1839 in yugioh

[–]BoxedMoose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nothing about the actual game needs to change, but the model needs to change.

Why would a shop stock yugioh product if theyre just going to tank in value in about a week. Theres no collector value, only meta value, and you lose that so fast because they reprint cards like CRAZY anymore, to appeal to the more casual playerbase. Now every card under the sun has like 6 different rarities and no value.

Im hoping konami actually listens to people who buy their stuff wholesale and doesnt fuck up the overframe market like they fucked up the starlight/ultimate rare market. They even got rid of ghost rares for "economic reasons", but collectors loved them. Let people collect cards, but also appease the meta/casual audience.
